Well, I just got done watching the ROTK EE, so here are some of my thoughts on the more major/long-awaited changes/additions.

VOICE OF SARUMAN: Even though it wasn't anywhere near as good as the books, it was still good. Saruman and Gandalf exchange words, Saruman shoots a fireball at Gandalf, Grima comes out, Saruman slaps him, Grima stabs Saruman, Saruman falls on spike, Legolas shoots Grima. Simple as that. ^_^

GANDALF vs. WIKI: This was the one scene that I was looking forward to the most, and was the most disappointing to me. The Witch King doesn't even get off his Fell Beast. He says his "This is my hour" line, and his sword catches on fire. Then Gandalf's staff breaks, and Gandalf falls to the ground. Then WiKi hears the horns of the Rohirrim, and he flies off. In other words, Gandalf gets pwned... -_-

CORSAIRS OF UMBAR: "Legolas, fire a warning shot". Aragorn proceeds to "accidentally" hit Legolas's bow, causing him to hit Peter Jackson. :P The Army of the Dead proceeds to swarm the boats.

ARAGORN CONFRONTS SAURON IN THE PALANTIR: Even though I was hoping for a physical fight, this was halfway decent. At least Sauron was in physical form holding the Palantir instead of a big flaming eye. Aragorn sees Arwen die and the Evenstar falls from his neck and shatters on the ground.

THE MOUTH OF SAURON: OK, firstly, the guy REALLY needs a dentist. Secondly, this was probably the most hilarious moment of the movie. MoS comes out, talks for a bit, throws over Frodo's mithril vest. Aragorn casually starts riding up to him. "It takes more than a broken Elvish blade to..." Aragorn cuts his little speech off by slicing his head off. "I guess that concludes negotiations." adds Gimli. :D

And, just a little bit of fun:
DRINKING CONTEST: Gimli and Legolas have a drinking contest at Edoras after Saruman is defeated. They keep going until they are about on drink #13, Gimli getting drunker by the minute. Legolas suddenly stops and says calmly, "I feel something, a slight tingling sensation in my fingers." He looks over to Eomer and says, "I think it's starting to affect me." Meanwhile, Gimli starts to say (drunk of course), "I told you you'd never beat..." and proceeds to fall flat on the floor. Legolas looks at Eomer and says, "Game over." Freaking hilarious. XD

Any other questions or comments? Post here and I'll try and answer them. ^_^

    ... Wow... Just... Wow...

I actually bought it, but haven't found the time to watch it all the way through. Work and the like, but it sounds like they added almost everything they needed to.

Sounds amazing. I am probeley going to get it after christmas but buy it from one of my friends that work at Alliance Atlantis the disturabtor of it in canada. I bought the first two extended version for the low price at $10 each.

I haven't bought the regualr one,but i have the other two,so i'll probably buy this one to complete it,plus it sounds great.

I got mine the day it came out, I got the box set with Minas Tirith along with the movie.
It's a great movie set. And also the longest movie that I know of (I can't think of any movie that is longer then "Gone with the Wind" and LOTR: ROTK EE is longer by 10 or 15 mins).
The Extended Edition has 23 Extended Scenes, and 12 New Scenes. The movie is 250 Minutes long (or 4 Hours and 10 Minutes long)
Just a few little edits below (just giving the exact quotes and stuff).

Gimli is the one that hits Legolas's bow (Aragorn is way on the other side and you see the end of Gimli's axe and his hand hit the bow).

The Mouth of Sauron said "It takes more to make a king then a broken Elvish blade".

Gimli says before he falls over: "What did I say?" "He can't hold his liquor." *Gimli goes cross eyed and falls over*.

It's my fav movie (well the non EE was but this is a lot better XD) and they added great stuff to it.
One of the things that I liked was the showed the death of the head Orc (you didn't see his death before, this time they show what happens to him).

Ooooh, I'm in, hehe. We recieved our copy about last week Monday through the mail, and with a little help from my dad, my sister and I were able to convince my mom into letting us watch it that night (We decided to make that day a second Mother's Day, massages and compliments galore, hehe).

One thing I noticed about this Extended Edition compared to the past two, was that while the others expanded more greatly upon the characters and their pasts, this one was basically about new scenes the crew decided to add in. According to what Jackson said in one of the trailers I watched, he said that it was basically full of fun scenes audiences wanted to see (And to give Aragorn a little more time on film, seeing as how the name of the movie is The Return of the King, and the king is hardly in it, hehe). The movie was really great though, with all the additions!

    But, without further ado...
    *Drumroll starts*

    VOICE OF SARUMAN
While it was a little awkward to leave Saruman out of the theatrical version completely, I really didn't see a problem with taking that route. More time needed to be spent on other scenes, so it worked out well. Otherwise though, this part was really interesting, and showed how the palantir came into Pippin's hands in the first place. It was funny; while we were watching the part where Saruman fell from his tower, my sister exclaimed, "Wow, he's lucky he isn't falling on any of the spikes," and seconds afterwards she was proven wrong, heh. Good conclusion (If not a bit shocking) to Saruman's portion of the story.

    GANDALF VS. WITCH-KING
I was looking forward to this part ever since I saw the trailer for the theatrical version of the movie, hehe. Actually, this scene should've been in the true version... it didn't take more than a minute or two to finish, if even. Despite the fact that no man can actually harm the Witch-King, (So said in the movie and books) I was hoping that Gandalf would at least pose a moderate threat. It's interesting how against the Balrog he stood his ground so well and managed to keep a straight face, while against the Witch-King it's obvious Peter Jackson wanted him to seem frightened. However, it does prove that even Gandalf has his limitations, the only reason he didn't die being the arrival of Rohan troops. Then on, he seemed a lot more vulnerable and had less hope in defeating Sauron (Also, this scene showed that Shadowfax is a very brave horse, heh).

    CORSAIRS OF UMBAR
I wanted to see what other misadventures Aragorn and company went through before they reached Minas Tirith with the army of the undead behind them, and this scene shows just that (And I thought Gimli was the one who moved Legolas' bow, shooting Peter Jackson dead on, hehe). Although it's practically the same exact scene as when Aragorn and the others charge towards the remaining orcs on Pelennor Fields with the undead suddenly appearing behind them, it was still fun to see.

ARAGORN CONFRONTS SAURON IN THE PALANTIR
I actually liked this scene a whole lot. Even though a mano-a-mano battle would've been fun to see, I bet there would've been a lot of controversy over it, since that never happens in the book. Besides, if Aragorn ever beat Sauron in any way, it diminishes the importance of the quest of destroying the ring. Anyways, I never saw Aragorn open his eyes so widely before, until he saw Arwen in the palantir, hehe. Like the Gandalf vs. Witch-King scene, this lessens Aragorns own hope for happiness, but in a more positive way to the viewer. Unfortunately, my sister was outraged to see that the pendant actually shattered, since she wears one herself, hehe.

    THE MOUTH OF SAURON
I liked this scene too, but my only regret was that it was too short (Aragorn cut it off early, hehe). I know their intention was probably to keep up the same momentum that was produced from the Battle of Pelennor Fields, but I still think this should've been drawn out a bit longer. The Mouth of Sauron proved himself to be a cunning and sly enemy indeed, but I don't think his full extent was realized. Now, an actual battle between Aragorn and the Mouth of Sauron would've been interesting. Aragorn could still finish him off, but the approach he took seemed a bit too drastic (Oh yeah, and the guy was rather freaky-looking, hehe).

    DRINKING CONTEST: GIMLI VS. LEGOLAS
First off, it was nice to see Legolas making some small talk for a change, hehe. This part was really funny, and helped to lighten the mood for the rest of the movie, since it really begins to lay it on thick once Gandalf and Pippin reach Minas Tirith. I can see why this scene was edited, but it's a nice addition.

    HOUSES OF HEALING
I also really wanted to see this scene as well. It was kind of awkward for Eowyn to go from defeating the Witch-King, to her next scene being alongside Faramir at the coronation ceremony of Aragorn. Plus, it showed how Faramir and Eowyn met in the first place. It really helped complete both character's stories.

The theatrical version of The Return of the King was my favorite movie, and like the other installments in the trilogy, the Extended Edition helped to improve upon it even more!

But, I have one regret.... no more Lord of the Rings!!
    *shrugs*
Ah well. Even if they end up making The Hobbit to continue upon the story even further, the Lord of the Rings movies rank among the best of all-time, and I won't stop watching them anytime soon!

    OK, Andy, Mr. Perfectionist :P
Did anyone see the special feature where PJ was actually going to have Aragorn fight Sauron at the Black Gate? Even though it is WAY off-base from the books, I think it would have been interesting- how Sauron is first in his Annatar form and then transforms into big, bad, armor-clad Sauron. I'd rather for it to happen in the Palantir though. =/
Another scene I was very happy with was the death of Gothmog. I'd been curious to see how he died and I thought that it was nice to see Gimli see some action instead of providing the humor for once. -_-
*ponders posting LOTR fanfic at PC now that he sees that there are actually people who like LOTR here* :P

Yea I saw the thing where Peter Jackson was talking and showing Aragorn fight Sauron. I think it would have been a nice fight to see. Because if you think about it, Aragorn don't get much main action in the movie. All he does is "Come with me, fight here, fight there. Help me fight Sauron's Army." He dosen't fight any main guys in the movie (sure he kills Gothmog and The Mouth of Sauron but that's about it). But like RMW said it's not in the book. So I guess it's better off they took out Sauron and put a Troll in.
But still, would have been nice to see an enemy that isn't just a big flaming eye. XD

Well, the only way I could see Aragorn fight Sauron is in the palantir. I don't think the book ever states HOW they fought, it just says that they struggled against each other. So it could have been physical, and it would have been awesome to see it in the movie. =/

I have LOTR: 1, 2 Extended but I still need to get the 3rd Extended >.<; I wan't to see all that extra footage... Dammitt I shouldv gotten it for christmas..

It's definitely the best of the Extended Editions. The additional scenes in the first two were mainly character development, but in this one they had a lot more substance.

I got it at Wal-Mart. It was $27.88 but I price-matched with a Best Buy circular and got it for $22.99.

I have Extended on 1 and 2 but No money to get the 3rd XD but I am gonna get it soon, I bet it will be like 4 hours long.

4 hours and 10 minutes, to be exact ^_^
