Lost Zone? [RESOLVED, now need help with possible fakes and cardsets] [PIC HEAVY]

    Hi guys,

So I bought my first Call of Legends cards the other day in the form of a Retort theme deck. Some of the cards, and the rulebook, make mention of a "Lost Zone", but I can't find anything about it in the rules. What is this and how does it work?

    Thanks,
    LAF

EDIT: Please scroll down for the new question, thanks

A Lost Zone is another area of the playing field. You've got your in-play area which includes your Active Pokemon and your Benched Pokemon, as well as your opponent's Active and Benched Pokemon. You've also got the deck, and you've got your discard pile. It's just another area of the playing field where things go, and has rules that only apply to it. Each player has a Lost Zone of their own. Some card utilize this area (such as Mew Prime), while others use it as a win condition (such as the Lost World stadium card).

    Hope this helps.

Ok, but how does it work? As I said, there is nothing in the rulebook about it, apart from a short bit at the start about how Call of Legends uses it blah blah.

There is also nothing marked on the playmat that came with the deck.

A second question, I went through and marked off the cardlist today, and I have non holo versions of Groudon and Hitmontop which came with the deck, as well as a non holo Lucario. Supposedly all of these cards have two holo versions only, no non holo.

Are they essentially promo cards? I also noticed that a few of the cards in the deck are from different expansions. I didn't realise they did that.

It is an area where cards get put when a card says to put cards there. Those cards are only affected by cards in the play area when cards in the play area make use of the Lost Zone. If you've played any other TCG, it is basically the Pokemon TCG's equivalent of a "removed from play" area. Like a discard pile, both players can see what cards are in there at any time.

And Nintendo tends to do that with their theme decks lately, I've noticed. Even the foil card is a card that's normally not holofoil.

Ok thanks, that makes sense now I think. I'll play and if it doesn't work I'll come back.

That's irritating. So should I not have crossed off the holofoil lucario on my cardlist then? Or is it ok

I do have some more questions regarding cardsets, but I had pics to go with them and apparently I can't post it till I have 15 posts ;(

Is there any way around this? I've already put them all on photobucket.

    No problem.

Depends on whether you want to collect each version of a card, whether you plan on selling them in the future, or if just any old version will do for your personal collection. If you plan on selling the set, you'd probably want to version from the packs. Note: Every card in all sets since the Legendary collection, except for special foils like Lv. X, Prime, ex, and Shining (these have a star after the name), has a reverse holofoil version.

That 15 posts thing applies to links and is in place to counteract spambots so they can be banned by the staff before they post their links. Can't be having links to a porn site on a Pokemon site now, can we?

You can get around that by uploading them as attachments to your post.

Well considering I'm trying to complete all the collections I currently have bits and pieces of, I'd want the proper ones from packs I guess. I have no interest in selling anytime soon however.

Ok, I'll upload attachments, unfortunately they won't be in a nice order like I had them. Maybe I'll just triple post so the pictures associated with each bit of text are together.

    One moment :)

EDIT: Ok so this is portion one of my post

    Hi guys,

I've been collecting cards for a while now, on and off, but recently I've really got back into it, and I'm looking to complete all the half collections I have. I'd prefer to do this through boosters and theme decks, so my first question is: where can I get boosters and theme decks, even as old as base set, for reasonable prices? Australia is preferred, I found a site in the US, but shipping for a $10 order was $40, which is absolutely ridiculous for something as light as cards - I've had computer parts shipped to me from the US for less than that.

Secondly, I would like some help identifying the collection symbols so I know what I am looking for, and where would I be able to find cardlists for each set? I'll list the ones I know below the symbol pictures. Apologies in advance, I'm an awful photographer :(

    Heart Gold/Soul Silver
    Fossil
    Base
    Jungle
    Diamond/Pearl
Base set 2 (I'm a little confused about this one, is it the one with a pokeball on top of a 2? I have an Alakazam and a grass energy with this symbol)

I've attached the first 5 symbols, more to follow in my next post. I have 30 odd pics :(

And I am unsure about the legitimacy of these cards. If you need more detail to tell just ask me, I've taken them out of my collection for the time being.

This is the last of the possible fakes and the last of the multiposts, gee whiz, 7 might be a record :p

Sorry about this, but I would like to know and the forums are too slow moving.

    I see.

Batch one L to R: DP Secret Wonders, EX Dragon Frontiers, EX Legend Maker, Gym Challenge, Gym Heroes

Batch Two: EX Emerald, EX Power Keepers, EX FireRed & LeafGreen, EX Crystal Guardians, Neo Discovery

Batch Three: DP Mysterious Treasures, Neo Genesis, Team Rocket

Batch Four: Generic theme deck Water Energy, year 2006, with it's serial number or something like that. I dunno what that last number is.

Batch Five: Legit but damaged Potion from R/S; Legit, same set; Legit Reverse Holo from Team Aqua vs. Team Magma; Legit same set; legit same set. Those sets had some weird fonts.

    Batch Six: All legit.

    Batch Seven: All legit.

I would run them all through the light test, though, which is holding them up to a light and seeing if you can see some light through them in places they aren't damaged. That's the quickest way to do a fake check.

    Wonderful, thanks :D

Again, sorry about all the multiposts. Do you know where I would be able to find cardlists for all these sets?

And where might be a place to find them? Or is eBay my best bet? As I said, I'd much rather go the theme/booster route - one of my favourite parts of the Pokemon TCG is opening a booster and not knowing what I will find.

The reason for the weird fonts is because they're probably fakes. Look at the Meowth, Cubone, and Slowpoke, that's what the legit font from that era looks like.

Based on that, the following cards are fakes:

    Potion
    Team Aqua's Mightyena
    Team Aqua's Carvanha
    Team Magma's Houndoom
    Team Magma's Aron
    Team Magma's Groudon
    Team Aqua Ball

Good thing is that they're all easy to get, so it's not a huge loss.

Hrm, can anyone confirm this? I was less convinced about the legitimacy of the Slowpoke etc, not those ones!

Fakes: Potion, mightyena, aqua's carvannah, magma's houndoom, numel is too blurry to tell, magma's aron, magma's groudon, team aqua ball. The most telling sign in most of these is the fact that the word "Pokemon" does not have an accent over the "e". But it can be hard to tell with some of those other ones, because the ex team magma vs team aqua set had unbolded font in the numbers, much like fake cards do.
