6th Gen Littleroot town

It's interesting you point it out, but then again the starting towns tend to only be home to the protagonist and his/her family, the rival's family and also the Professor.

It Is odd, mostly knowing that there are villagers that don't seem to even have a house.
That throws me off in every game. What's this guy hanging around my private village for?
Obviously they wouldn't do this in OR/AS since it's a remake, but I'm not sure why they don't develop the starter towns a little more. There's no reason why they need to be minuscule, besides making players want to leave this boring area and go adventuring.

I think we're getting to the point where it's just a little lazy on GameFreak's part to design these towns with the bare minimum number of houses. I mean, it's sorta just the way towns have always been, but I mean that was only due to technical limitations back in the Gameboy days. I hope in the coming generations we start getting towns with a bit more detail and depth--even in the remakes ^^

Looking at this I feel like the only starting down that actually had depth was Aspertia City in B2/W2, but then again this was a city and not a small town. Vaniville Town in X/Y was a bit more creative with the houses, but then again it was really only Calem, Serena and Shauna's families who lived in there.

It feels like Game Freak are focusing more and more on improving the dynamics of the Gym puzzles, and while still improving cities, keeping it at a slow pace. I'd love to see a little bit more detail on the small towns, as well as keeping improving the details on the big cities, as well as a bit more details on some routes. But maybe im just overreacting as well, I still like how the game is heading to in that sense.

I need for fat tech guy to have a house in the next game. Technology isn't going to keep him warm, dry and fed guys!

The starting towns always have a bit off a simple boring design. I actually love the starting town in BW2 because of it. So mucu better than silly littleroot.

Definitely agree. Lumiose City in X&Y showed us how much depth they can put into a city--it actually looks like a big city that you're only exploring a small portion of, as opposed to Litteroot and other cities, which are literally just a few houses and buildings. I guess there's only so much they could do in ORAS, since they're remakes like SwirlyBirds pointed out, but still...maybe they could give the cities and towns a bigger revamp in future remakes.

They're such small towns that your player's house is one of the main attractions in the town or something.
Not even your parents' house. They just got a sign next to it saying it's your house. Everyone's coming to Littleroot Town to see your house so it needs to be properly labeled so people will recognize it.

Yes, but you can't say that anyone will know you when you start the game, so it still feels cheesy. I think that having something that truly translates how your reputation is handled is great, it'd be really good if you'd see more movement on your main town, per example. Something that gives that idea.

I've always taken it that with the exception of twin leaf town(I asume that it was born from a lodging estate that is mysteriously missing for travelers traveling to the lake), Aspertia City(which is actually a city), and the private residential estate for rich folks in XY(vanivile town is just a suburb of aquacrode town which is more likely just a park and dinner for Santalune City).

The other "towns" are basically the houses of the families working for the prof that set up a lab in the middle of the forest to research pokemon. The only exception being littleroot town where your dad being friends with the prof got the house cheap.

edit:
we can only assume that the main characters and rivals names are their family names and have no personal names.

idk, we know that in G1, rival's last name is Oak, and that in G3, it's Birch.

ever notice how these "small towns" are freaking huge in the anime?

the last one i doubt we've seen half of since ash hasn't gone there yet.
point being i doubt any town in the games are the size at which they appear. its common with video games that the actual size is different then whats seen

Remember the video games have more limitations than the anime, which is why the anime portrays said towns much larger. But that anime pic of Vaniville Town is heavily resemblant to the games since your protagonist has a Rhyhorn living in the front yard, plus your house is just to the right of the entry to Route 1.
