OK, everyone has seen Gardenia's Turtwig use Leech Seed on Ash's Turtwig. Problem is I'm concerned about the fact that Leech Seed Doesn't effect Grass types from my experiences of R/S. It is also clearly written in Bulbapedia that "Leech Seed will not work against Grass-type Pokémon.". What is your opinion about this "error"? Do you think we really should be able to use it in our games?

Yeah such errors happen in the series. I am still concerned though...was it on purpose?
I gotta say, what angered me most is how "not very effective" moves can knock out or do good damage against enemies in the anime. How can a Leavanny faint from an Electric attack for an instance. Anyway, to avoid these unwanted thoughts, I always recall the fact that the game is not= to the anime.

Its kinda funny how the fans know more then the creators. I doubt they know the ev/iv calcutlators and nature increases/decreases while some people know it by heart.

I never noticed this error and I never knew Leech Seed affected grass types. The one time I did use leech seed on a grass type was deerling but i assumed it didnt work due to sap sipper. I think it should be able to be used as leech seed isn't (as far as im concerned) a very popular move and that would make it a bit more helpful for weaker grass types.

Even though Leech Seed doesn't affect Grass Pokemon in the games, I don't think it was an error because the anime doesn't follow the moves' game mechanics all the time (like Shadow Ball hitting Normal Pokemon).

    Yeah, that is so f r i c k ing stupid. Nonsense.

Take it with a grain of salt and suspend your disbelief. I like to think that the world of pokemon in the anime is far too complex to be generalized with game mechanics.

For example, I like to believe that an untrained pokemon starts to get out of shape after a while. Much of Oak's day is spent keeping the pokemon fit and healthy. While you could leave a LVL 100 Charizard in an electronic box for 10 years and pull it out just as strong as ever in the game, doing so in the anime would leave it in atrophied shambles.

These little quirks just make the anime seem a bit more relatable to real life.

Guess what they say: Aim for the horn.

Quite practically another way to say that anime logic is bull compared to game logics.

    it's happened before

This is much like how Brock's Onix was defeated by a combination of Thunderbolt and the fire sprinklers going off in the Pewter Gym when Ash battled Brock the second time around in "Showdown In Pewter City".
A similar situation also occurred during the opening credits of "Mewtwo Strikes Back" where a trainer was looking for Ash so he could battle him. Towards the end of the battle, the trainer let out multiple Pokémon at once, and Pikachu used an electric attack that took them all out, including a Golem!

This type of thing still happens and probably won't ever change. I guess it's to bring diversity to the anime. Besides, it's easier for the writers to explain that, say, water's strong against fire than explaining how Leech Seed shouldn't work on a grass Pokemon.

In a somewhat recent episode, Ash's Tranquil was hit by Yamask's Shadow Ball. Also,
    Spoiler:

The games are a more simplified version of the anime imho; perfectly stated by Mr. Pineco with:

They always have errors in the anime. One example was rather recently (English dub, recently), where James's Yamask used Shadow Ball on Ash's Tranquill and it worked, where that would not have had any effect in the games.

The other day I caught the last 15 minutes of the episode where Ash fights Gardenia. At one point Gardenia's Roserade used Magical Leaf and Ash's Pokemon ( I think it was Staravia) dodged it. What!?
