In the Johto games, on Route 35, there is a small sidequest with the guard of that area. He will task you with giving mail to his friend attached to a Spearow named Kenya. You bring the mail to a trainer on Route 31. You can remove the mail from Kenya, and attach it to a different Pokemon, and even evolve Kenya, as well. In Generation II, however, if you attach the mail to a different Pokemon that isn't Kenya, the npc on Route 31 will take the mail and the Pokemon with him. But in generation IV, they changed this so he only takes Kenya back.
Similar to Shuckie the Shuckle, this Pokemon is considered a traded Pokemon by the game, and just like the Shuckle, you can choose not to give Kenya back, like I said above.
Did you do this small sidequest? Did you bother to give Kenya back to the npc on route 31? I didn't give Kenya back, nope. I didn't feel like it, honestly.
