just what is mew

You know how each pokemon is some how resembled off an actual animal or mythical creature. Well, mat is mew? i cant seem to figure that out. is he a cat, mouse? what is he?

It does KINDA look like a cat...maybe it isn't meant to resemble one specific animal.

I heard from my friend its supposed to represent an unborn baby.The tail is supposedly the umbilical cord and thats why its so playful. But thats what I only heard so i'm not entirly sure.

i would say a mouse a fairy? but i dont think all of them are based on animals.

It appears as a pink feline-esque Pokémon with large feet, big blue eyes, and a very long tail. Its skin is covered with a layer of fine pink hair.
