    [PokeCommunity.com] JoJoMon's Bizarre Adventure

In Pokemon XY, a lot of fans like to draw parallels to it with Dragon Ball Z, since Mega Evolutions are similar to Super Saiyan transformations, Lucario and Mewtwo being equivalent to Goku and Freiza respectively, and Zygarde being the Pokemon equivalent of Cell (especially its perfect form). Now for the upcoming Pokemon Sun and Moon, fans are drawing parallels to it with another popular shonen series: JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. The reason behind this comparison? The Jangmo-o line, Z-Move poses, and Ultra Beasts resembling stands. And I think that we haven't seen all of the JoJo comparisons that the game has to offer, but what do you guys think?

As someone who's two favourite things are Pokemon and Jojo, this makes me incredibly happy. I already loved the Jojo-esk poses from XY and ORAS (Team Flare come to mind) and these games seem to be cranking it to 11. I LOVE the poses that all the trainers do before battle, especially GlaDIOn (with his Stone Mask Pokemon), Hala, Olivia, and Team Skull in general. I love Z-Moves because of the poses and (Sunlight Yellow) INFERNO OVERDRIVE, and the fighting type Z-Move which is basically Jotaro's ORARORAORA attack.

Honestly? All of these references could just be a coincidence, maybe Pokemon is just really into posing this time and we just automatically assume it's referencing Jojo because Jojo popularized it and it became a massive meme (not to mention Jojo hype is at an all time peak, now that Part 4 is finally getting animated, with the later parts likely to come), but as a Jojo fan, it's still fun to connect the dots and sort of merge two of my favourite (za) world(o)'s, hell I even went and nicknamed my Mega Mewtwo X "Killer Queen". But who knows? Maybe Ohmori has been way the hell into Jojo lately too, which is just another reason to love him.

This better be the case. If SM truly are trying to call upon The JoJo, then I need to see some characters who look like JoJo characters--in other words, we're... missing a bit of muscle, cough cough...

It's tough to say if it's all intentional or not, though. But a lot of the tropes being used in SM were indeed popularized by JoJo. Admittedly, I don't know enough about JoJo aside from the, ahem, character designs, to really draw a lot of parallels. But still, there's always the fun images that come from them to enjoy.

It's more likely that all the JoJo-inspired elements of this game are nothing but a pure coincidence.

I'm inclined to agree. AFAIK, they've been doing stuff like the poses and such in Japan for decades. That said, for whatever reason I've been viewing the Ultra Beasts as akin to the Arrancars from Bleach in my mind.

I'm rather disappointment in some of the members' disappointment in Alolan Dugtrio despite its new hairdo making it resemble a JoJo character (more specifically, the Pillar Men).

It doesn't remind me of the Pillar Men at all, instead it reminds me of surfer dudes and rockers.

I'd like to see the move Bulldoze actually drop a bulldozer on the opponent LOL

The weird poses are all over japanese media... Originating from Sentai, Kamen Rider, Ultraman shows.

I can see how one could make the comparison, but to me I just don't see it. Dragon Ball Z fighters are on a whole different plateau to Pokemon on the power-scale, and not only that but the storylines follow completely different paths -- the one in Dragon Ball Z more grim than Pokemon.
