Island Scan for Onix

    I?m playing through Ultra Sun right now and I really want to add Onix then steroid to my team.

    I know you can get one from Island Scan, I just have no idea how to use it.

    do I need to beat the elite 4 first? Is there any way I can specifically find Onix using it?

    I believe you can do Island Scan from the start of the game. Basically, you need to scan 100 points worth of QR codes, allowing you to scan the island for new pokemon. The new pokemon depends on the island you're scanning and the day your scanning on.

    Onix appears on Melemele Island on Tuesday. So wait until Tuesday, or you could scan QR codeds beforehand and scan the island on Tuesday. For QR codes, you can use the ones on the Bulbapedia page:

    To scan, go into the menu and click on QR scan. Then click the scan button and focus the 3ds' camera on the QR code. Each of them are worth 20 points so you only need to scan 5. From there, you hold the Island Scan button and it will tell you (assuming you're doing it on the right day), that there is a special pokemon at Ten Carat Hill. Specifically, the cave part. Run around in there a bit, and Onix should appear at Lvl14.

    Luckily, it's tuesday, so got my onix!

    Found a metal coat on a Magnemite.

    Now just need to trade to get it to evolve. Would anyone be willing to help me out?
