Ok guys gotta question my son has a card and says it is a misprint and says he wants to sell it to buy some more card can anyone tell me if this is true

It is a mega ampharos ex it says it evolves from a charizard ex my son says it does not evolve from a charizard is he correct?

Ampharos is and electric type : Charizard is a fire and flying type.
The evolution stages of Ampharos are the following: Mareep evolves into Flaffy at Lv.15 ; Flaffy evolves into Ampharos at Lv.30.
The evolution stages of Charizard are the following: Charmander evolves into Charmeleon at Lv.16 ; Charmeleon evolves into Charizard at Lv.36.

Wow counterfeit never thought that would be a case with pokemon cards thanks so much is there another way I could look on the card or another part of the card that would show it is counterfeit

Here are a few things you can look for:
    • All Pokémon EX (excluding Championship proxies, which have a silver signature and alternate back) should be holographic.
    • HP and base damage of any card shouldn't exceed 340 (though this may change in the future).
    • If a card has multiple typos, it's likely fake. Fakes also often lack the accent in "Pokémon."
    • Google a picture of the official card (in the same language as yours) and compare fonts; if they don't match up, it's fake (lowercase G is a good letter to start with). Compare the Type/Energy icons (orbs) while you're at it, as a lot of fakes have "bloated" icons ripped from Energy cards.

I just happened upon the same misprint (Ampharos EX-M that says "evolves from Charizard EX") in Michigan. I'm going to investigate where it was obtained, but unless we have a very active counterfeiter, it could be a misprint. It looks and feels just like other (verified legitimate) EX, GX, Mega cards. Will update as I get more info. Here's hoping it truly is an ultra-rare error card!

Pokemon counterfeits are in extremely wide circulation. The operations are usually based in large countries with cheap labor where there is no official Pokemon TCG release, like Brazil or China, where there is a large market to take advantage of.

I'm sorry to say but I can say with 99% confidence you have a counterfeit, as errors like this are noticed nearly immediately by the community, and it's been more than 4 years since the relevant sets have released. Yours likely actually has an extremely plastic feel to it. pokemon cards feel much more like paper than plastic.
