Is there a way for expand Pokémon Storage Boxes?

I thought it was going to simple, as simple as just replacing a "14" with a "28" or something... But it wasn't like that...
Everything is just fine until I save and reset... The boxes do a weird mess up with their names and wallpapers, with the names changing, and appearing weird random letters in random boxes, and most of them don't having name at all. All of them had the same wallpaper and an empty name that suddenly changes from "" to " Á" when shifting between boxes.
Something happens with the saving... Something weird, like if it collapsed or something...
Maybe something related to the "u8" that saves those values... Maybe that's what is collapsing, too much information in a much tiny space? idk

I think it's almost impossible to expand the Pokémon Storage System to accommodate every existing forms to date... Unless someone can modify or disassemble Pokémon Box: RS for extra storage...

Skeli was able to expand them from 14 to 24 for his Complete Fire Red Upgrade in binary hacking, so I don't see why it wouldn't be possible to reach the same result using the decomps.
I suppose it would require some knowledge on how saveblocks work and how the stuff stored in them is managed though.

For what it's worth, there's already been some work on this topic sometime ago. A user I met on a certain Discord server called cfmnephrite (who gave me permission to link this here) was able to expand the PC Boxes in Pokeemerald from 14 to 18.
