Is Swablu worth training to get an Altaria?
I'm not sure if Altaria is a good Pokemon or not.
Thanks in advance for your opinion. =)

Well it's worth it, although it is a bit hard, cause it will evolve into an Altaria, which is Flying and Dragon type (am I right?) so it's a good Pokemon too.

If you're playing UU, yes, Altaria is a very good Pokemon, however, it is completely outclassed by Salamence in nearly every way.

Great pokemon to switch in on a grass knot.

    Learns DD.
    All I know about it.

Altaria is a good Support Pokémon, and can be a devastating sweeper on UU.

If it's just for ingame battles, though, any Pokémon is worth training really.

I actually wouldn't recommend training a Swablu in game. It doesn't evolve until Lv35, and it will be really weak until it does so. And most people don't get to Lv35 until around the seventh gym.

Cool. My Swablu is already lvl. 22 so I don't think I should stop now. I'm now at the fire gym and I usually evolve my starter around the flying gym. But, what's UU?

UU stands for Under Used. I have an Altaria on my team in Ruby, but I haven't gotten a chance to battle with it against another player yet. I'm quite happy with it though; it does great in-game.

Ok. Thanks Yoshiko75. I don't know all the terms yet lol.

I think it is worth training even though I havent trained a Swablu into Altaria but I do have a lv.78 Altaria that was leveled up by the Day Care Center. =D

Okay. What about Trapinch? I want a Flygon but i don't like to train a pokemon that's hard to train...

In terms of being worth training, yes, Trapinch's final evolution, Flygon, can kick butt.
Be careful with Ice-types, though, since they could easily knock Flygon out, like Garchomp.
Also, Flygon has fairly higher stats than Altaria, so that could be an advantage.

In terms of training, however, Trapinch may need some patience, since it evolves at a somewhat high level (level 35 to Vibrava, and level 45 to Flygon).

Not gonna lie my whole team was almost level 30 and 3 of them were level 30 or higher including my Altaria before gym 5

Appreciates your input. Please avoid posting in threads that are super old like this, though. Last posted in this thread in 2008 (Diamond / Pearl era). In general, do not post in threads where the last post is from more than 4 years ago or so.

Feel free to create a new thread on the topic, if you wish to discuss it further. Fits best in:
    • Pokemon Gaming Central for battle ability in any generation
    • Previous Generations, Pokemon Switch Games, or Pokemon Scarlet & Violet for its performance in a specific game
    • Pokemon General for talking about Swablu as a Pokemon outside of its in-game statistics

    Locks this thread, also.
