Sunnybeam is pretty fail tbh. its not viable because they will see what you're doing and bring in a counter. Plus, weather teams are on the rise and you may get one turn of sun out before they bring back the initiater, who are usually walls anyway (Namely hippodon)

with sunny day, solarbeam doesn't need to charge.
    you didn't know?

    you didn't know?

he did know, wat he's saying is: "you use sunny day, and your opponet figures out what ur doing, they are going to switch the pokemon out for one without the weakness of grass, so then even if you didn't need to charge solarbeam, it wouldn't be as effective" then he said : "the amount of weather teams are rising and if you do use sunny day they could switch there poke for one such as tyranitar who auto. starts a sandstorm, wiping out your sunny day

Thankyou Mr azn for expanding on my point.

Oh and i dont appreciate being PMed arguing with my advice, especially since it was you asking for an opinion. Ask any established battler at this site and they will agree. There are always going to be exceptions, but in the 99% of cases it will not work.

    I see

so I'll give the houndoom the solarbeam since people will be less likely to see it coming, as it's not unusual for a fire type to cast sunny day.

And I wasn't arguing, don't be so touchy

Again, bad idea. It's like Hyperbeam in reverse, you wait then do damage. You're basically begging them to switch in an wall.

Oh, and Sunny Day is VERY rare on fire types. In almost a year of being here at PC, i have not seen it used once. I don't know who you've been battling, but its almost never seen here.

And you were arguing. Dont make me find the definition for you.

i run a sunny day team and i can vouch that they are incredibly tricky to make for a few reasons that have been mentioned before:
    1. "other weather teams are on the rise." the two types of weather you'll have to worry about are rain and sandstorm. rain has actually not proven to be very problematic since it runs out after 5 turns (or 8 with damp rock). But the sun weakens water's power and ruins swift swim strategies so it actually turns out to be an interesting "counter" for rain teams. sandstorm is incredibly difficult to get rid of because of the pokemon ability sand stream that activates a sandstorm immediately when the pokemon enters battle. on top of that, the sandtorm will last forever unless you find the opportunity to throw in a sunny day. and even if you do manage to throw in a sunny day, your opponent can always switch back in the sand stream pokemon to ruin your fun. so the key to facing sandstorm teams is to get rid of sand stream pokemon as quickly as possible so that you can actually use your strategies. in other words, your team needs to be designed in a way to counter sand stream pokemon early on in the battle. (i didn't mention hail because it completely fails against a sunny day team).
    2. sunny day is much more difficult to set up than hail or sandstorm since there are no non-uber pokemon with the ability drought. you need fairly sturdy defenses or a substitute to be able to set up a sunny day effectively. i recommend you have 3 pokemon with sunny day on your team and at least 1 of them should be holding heat rock.

but if you can do all that, sunny day is actually a very deadly strategy.

by the way, i voted "no" because i don't think houndoom or roserade can pull off sunny day effectively but you can always try.
