Humanoid Pokémon

There are a lot of humanoid Pokémon in the series, with some of them being very popular across the community and pretty strong in the games. Some but not all include Lucario, Cinderace, Gardevoir, Machap, Alakazam, Gallade, Inteleon, and more.

Do you like humanoid Pokémon? What're your favorites? Do you want to see more of these in the future, or do you prefer creatures be designed more like animals?

Just listing final stages to keep it simpler:

👍Hariyama, Toxicroak, Infernape, Gothitelle, Hawlucha, Mienshao, Electivire

😣Blaziken, Incineroar, Cinderace, Inteleon, Lucario, Conkeldurr, Hypno, Hitmonlee, Mr. Mime

Anyone else goes somewhere in the middle.

Humanoid Pokémon tend to be hit-or-miss for me. They can look cool, and there's a certain appeal to making a Pokémon more "relatable" by making it look more human. That said, you can very easily tell when TPC designs humanoid Pokémon to appeal to...those kinds of people (Lopunny, especially its Mega Evolution, Salazzle, and Tsareena to name a few), and others just look a little uncanny or otherwise off-putting to me.

Some of my favorite humanoid Pokémon include Golurk (mainly because I like mechs), Deoxys (because it's just a really cool Pokémon), Buzzwole (because it's absolutely hilarious), Sneasel (both Johtonian and Hisuian, because young me just thought Sneasel was cool), Sirfetch'd (because of its comically long sword and the fact that it's made Farfetch'd more than just a joke), and Magmortar (because it has freaking arm cannons).

Meanwhile, I'm personally not a fan of the Timburr line, especially on account of their gross veins (I've never felt this way about, say, Buzzwole) and screwed up proportions (especially their legs), while the Clobbopus line, as Pokémon based on octopuses, disappoint me a little. I quite dislike Sneasler too, because it's a bit..."too" human, although I don't dislike Sneasler just because it's so humanoid. While it isn't enough for me to hate a Pokémon, I dislike when humanoid Pokémon have legs that look atrophied (e.g. Toxtricity and Grimmsnarl).

On a side note, I don't like the implications that a "Human-like" Egg Group brings.

I don't know what a humanoid Pokemon is and I'm guessing it is Pokemon that stand on two legs.

My favorites would be Mewtwo, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Chansey, Happiny, Blissey, Cubone, Marowak, Decidueye

I'm completely fine with them. Never took issue with Pokemon becoming humanoid upon evolving. I don't have a favorite, though.

There's great ones and there's horrible ones, so it's a mixed bag for me.

Gothitelle, Medicham, Gardevoir & Gallade are great for example. Indeedee is amazing!
Incineroar is atrocious and one of my least favorite Pokemon ever.
Mr. Mime thanks to it's regional form is now a mixed bag too... the original is horrible, but the Galarian form is decent though nothing spectacular.

And then there's a whole bunch like Cinderace where I just don't really give a dang.

Tends to dislike them. Does not belong, for whatever reason. Warmed up to a few humanoid Pokemon after a few generations.

Looked down the Human-like egg group. Sees several humanoid Pokemon missing, namely Tsarenna, Salazzle(?), Incineroar, Diggersby(?), Poliwrath(?), Mewtwo(?), and Smeargle(?). Never registers some in the human-like group as "humanoid", on the flip side. Examples: Electabuzz, Magmar, Spinda, and Lucario. Retains enough characteristics of an animal, perhaps.

Good humanoid Pokemon: Hitmonchan, Hitmontop, Gallade, Abra (not the evolutions), and Scorbunny line.

Bad humanoid Pokemon: Hypno, Machop line, Meditite line, Diggersby, Buzzwole, Timburr line, Throh, Sawk, and Incineroar.

Tosses the rest somewhere in between.

More like humanoid Pokémon are those that move and behave in ways that are very human-like, and are usually based on human traits/works/themes (martial artists, construction worker, swordsman, masked hero, football player, bodybuilder, mime, etc.). A lot of Pokémon are bipedal but not humanoid.

Humanoid Mons tend to be a mixed bag for me, really. I tend to dislike the ones which are too human-like in the Uncanny Valley way (e.g. the Machop line, the Timburr line, Kantonian Mr. Mime, Jynx, the Tyrogue line sans Hitmontop, Steenee and Tsareena, Pheromosa, Lopunny and its Mega, etc). That said, I have absolutely no problem with those that mingle enough animal, cartoon or robotic characteristics to look distinct from humans - like Mewtwo, Typhlosion, Cinderace, Incineroar, Sneasler, Lucario, Audino, Indeedee, Meowstic and Hitmontop for the first point, Galarian Mr. Mime and Mr. Rime for the second one, and the Pawniard line and the Golett line for the last one.

Many of my favorite Pokémon are humanoid, such as Blaziken, Gardevoir, Lucario, Electivire (if that counts) and Alakazam, to name a few. To answer your other questions, I don't think Pokémon specifically need to be designed like animals too frequently because albeit they are living creatures, they're not actually animals. Pokémon could be based on many things such as plants, machines, and even garbage, keys, and desserts. That's one of the main charms about Pokémon. Thus, having humanoid Pokémon shouldn't be out of the ordinary. I believe Pokémon would have boring designs if the majority were based simply on animals that we're all too familiar with. That's why I considered it so refreshing when the Ultra Beasts came out in the Alola games. They went above and beyond to provide us with unique cool designs that weren't all based upon animals in the traditional sense.

Generally, I like humanoid Pokemon. Among my favourites are Alakazam, Machamp, Hitmonlee, Hitmontop, Blaziken, Gardevoir, Gallade, Lucario, Magmortar, Scrafty, Lilligant, Greninja, Incineroar, and Inteleon. And if ghosts count, then also Mismagius and Froslass.

However, there are some humanoid Pokemon I'm not a fan of. Gurdurr and Conkeldurr are some of the most hideous creatures they'veever made. Not a fan of Hypno, Buzzwole, and Pheromosa either.
