how many people actually liked Iris's personality?

    many people seem to not like Iris's personality in the BW anime, but how many people on here actually do like Iris's personality? what do you like about it?


    I like her personality not sure why though... probably because I'm loud myself...
     
    I didn't mind Iris's personality. She reminds me of Dawn because they both condescend Ash's naïveté. She was more adventurous than the rest of Ash's followers and I liked that about her. She always followed Ash because she wanted to join his escapades, rather than being forced to. Unfortunately her personality wasn't as strong as it could've been but she did have a slight uniqueness that I'll miss. Hopefully she'll follow the trend of the other female companions returning for a few episodes later on in XY.
     
    I liked her because she had tanned skin and athletic personality .
    But Writer ruined her by over-glorifying her .
    Most of her battle was totally plain and Boring ! It got even worst when she got Dragonite because Dragonite's strength overshadowed her own skill as trainer .
    Unlike May & Dawn who uses actual tactic in Battle , Iris just raise her hand in air & closed her eye for a second and BANGGGG !
    Plus , Her Kudomone (Such a Kid) phrase got annoying because she kept using this same phrase over & over again .
    No matter whatever happen , She just uses this one Phrase again & again ! Its like she doesn't know any other way to react.
    Unlike Misty , Whose reaction to various gag was different & random which made her a fun character.
    Honestly , Iris from ''Pokemon Adventure'' Manga had better personality & development then Anime Iris even though she didn't won anything and didn't got a free Dragonite !
    Honestly , I believe it was a mistake for Iris to be Ash's traveling companion Because it cause her underdevelopment !!!
    She would been better off as a Mysterious wild girl who randomly appear out of nowhere to help or annoy Ash and later reveal to be the new gym Leader .
     
    I personally found her annoying after a few episodes. Her constant Ash taunting ("You're such a kid") got old quickly and caused me to groan every time she said it. I also didn't like her over-reliance on Dragonite.

    However, I like how they made her very athletic due to how she was raised. When she started hanging off of trees and swinging on vines, I was like "Pretty cool."
     
    She was a nice kid. I didn't find her as interesting as the previous girls and her taunting got fairly annoying, especially because it was rare that Ash retaliated or Cilan interfered. There was not an interesting enough dynamic between them to make that interaction very good. I liked that she was athletic and had a clear goal and a rival, but I think her role as Drayden's successor should have come up earlier and been better explored and tied to her arc. She was a decent character, but did not have the writing to back her up.
     
    I found her incredibly annoying; her ongoing 'such a child' meme got old quite quickly; so much so that I actually found her quite childish. 8(

    I much prefer Dawn and even May over her. Misty...not so much ahah.
     
    Iris personality was an whole lot better improvement over Dawn, i do believe the writers did a wonderful job with Iris character development and it was so much better to see her traveling with Ash then it was with Dawn who had no personality.
     
    I liked her. She was better than Cilan IMO (maybe because Cilan was kinda a copy of Brock - cooking/never catching pokemon - but Iris was kinda fresh??) Only thing that annoyed me about her was the fact she always would be like 'SUCH A KID' and she needed to catch another Pokemon that could evolve (so did Cilan).

    On topic. Yea, Iris was pretty interesting character and something fresh to the series (yea, I'm biased 'cause she was voiced by Aoi, but let's omit that). I don't think she had any personality flaws... yea, her phrase got boring after a while but that does not have anything to do with personality...
    She's my second favorite main girl after Haruka.
     
    I thought Iris was a fresh out well handled character and like her peronality, it is funny when she said Ash is such a kid, also her pokemon were really great and all had great personalities.
     
    I liked Iris. She is not my favorite female companion but she was cute. Her meme "you're a little kid" was overused tho.
     
    i could not stand Iris she was really annoying and underdeveloped which i dont care that she is underdeveloped because i think along with some others ion the net that she has like been the worst character in the series
     
    Iris was likeable character who develop into an unlikeable character .
    Her PokeSpe counterpart is far better then her .
    Just like Dawn's (Anime) counterpart Platina (Pokespc) and Serena's (Anime) counterpart ''Y'' has better personality then their anime counterpart.
     
    Iris' personality is quite unlikable in terms of her annoyance. Aside from being just Misty 2.0, she always belittling Ash and acting like she's the only mature trainer around here. There are times where she even went full-on Mary Sue such as having Emolga listen to her despite not being able to before. I'm shocked that she still has fans despite how poorly developed she is.
     
    Whoa, whoa, whoa. Let's derail this Iris hate train. She seemed to have more understanding of Pokémon than the other girls. Iris understood how Pokémon were feeling (not just Dragon types) and she knew how to bring out their inner strength (a la Excadrill and Dragonite). She also had more ambition. Being a Dragon master is much harder than a Water master, especially when you contrast the behaviors of Water Pokémon and Dragon Pokémon. Sure, she used her catchphrase way too often, but isn't that what makes it a catchphrase? Ash does act childish quite often. Character development =/= personality.

    All Iris does is raising her hand & closing her eye to use some super-natural Power to get in Dragonite head .
    Its probably one of the most hexed way to understand Pokemon !!! All Iris's development gone to Drain because writer try to show Dragon-Masters as some super natural being.
    She didn't know her Excadrill problem until Cilan made her realize it !
    It doesn't even make sense ! Why Does Dragon trainer has to be so special .
    How the hack she got the power just by carrying some Axew over her head ???
    If Ash carried his Gible on his head would that mean that Ash would also gain the power to telepathically bond with Dragon Pokemon .
    Truth is , The whole Concept of Dragon Master is stupid & idiotic !
    I can get why Psychic Pokemon trainer can have telepathic power but Dragon Pokemon is a whole different thing
    Even If its fair then it still doesn't make Iris the girl who can understand Pokemon better ! Because that title belong to Salon Maiden Anabel.
    But Anabel doesn't act like that even though she can read people's mind.
    Water type Pokemon can be more savage then Dragon type ! Example : Gyarados .
    If We're talking about Iris calming some angry Dragonite then Misty calmed down a 30 foot big Tentacruel and saved an entire town .
    Plus , Iris helped Dragonite not because she knew it was innocent ! She helped it because she believe Dragon Pokemon can never do bad stuff even if any other pokemon can.
    Even Ash got the ability of an Aura user yet he only able to use it on a Special Riolu.
    We don't even know if he will ever get a free Lucario who's telepathically connected with him .

    Nah, I respect your opinions. You bring up some fair points, too.

    I'm not saying Iris was the greatest female companion, I just don't think she deserves all of the hate. She shares similarities with all of her previous counterparts and I feel like people dislike her for reasons that could be shared with Misty, May, and Dawn.

    I don't dislike her , I dislike the writers for turning her into an unlikeable character.
    Believe me or not , I was a huge Iris-fan & Negaishipper .
    I wanted Iris to be as popular as Hinagiku Katsura (Hayate no gotoku) .
    But I start to lose interest when Writer start to hexing her . After She got The free Dragonite , It was the end of my limit .
    This is how I would handle her -

    1) Iris would be a referring character who usually appear out of nowhere.

    2) The female cast in her place would be Anime exclusive character who happen to be one of Prof Jenifer Young assistant . She will be traveling with Ash to collect data about the Legendary Dragons of Unova and send them to Prof Jennifer due to Team Plasma threat.

    3) That female cast will act like Bulma (Dragonball Z) ! You know strict , hot-temper , always complaining ! She will be the ''Straight-man'' of the show.

    4) While Iris will be a mysterious girl who appear out to nowhere to flirt with Ash or annoy him ! But she will also give him valuable information & advice time to time .

    5) My version of Iris is totally wild and childish ! She also admit it .
    There will be a time where The gang visit a haunted house and Iris will scare the female cast .
    The female cast will angrily say-
    Female Cast : IRIS , WILL YOU EVER STOP ACTING LIKE A KID ????
    Iris : But I'm a Kid ! What is the problem in acting like One ???
    Female cast : ................. I can't rebut that !!!!

    6) Iris's identity will be reveal when the gang reach Opelucid city !

    7) There , A succession ceremony will be going on where Iris battle Drayden for the position of Opelucid city gym-leader and She Wins ! Meaning that Ash has to battle her for the badge .

    8) The night Before the gym-battle , Iris will sneak into Ash's bedroom and wake him up which almost gave him a heart-attack !

    9) Then Iris will tell him that she not planning on to be a gym-leader ! She want to be acknowledged as the strongest Dragon pokemon trainer so her goal is to reach the Hightest position A trainer can reach !!
    In other word , The world champion ! This make her & Ash rivals .

    10) Iris will say that she will be using her most powerful & experience Pokemon so she want the same treatment from Ash

    11) After hearing her reason , Ash decide to bring his older pokemon to battle her -

    -Sceptile will defect Druddion and he will be too injured to defect Hydregion
    -Charizard & Hydregion's battle end up as a tie.
    -Krookook defect Haxorus allowing Ash to win the gym-battle .

    12) Drayden is proud of the way Iris's battle and accepted her defect . Iris will gave Ash the badge and they promise that They will face each other again on the higher stage of the world in future (PWT).

    13)Later Iris will help Ash master the Dark stone & awake zekrem since she's a expert in dragon type .

    14) It will be reveal that Iris originally meant to be the Secret weapon again N & Team Plasma but the plan change because the Dark stone chose Ash instate of Iris

    15) Iris will fight one of sage So Ash can go to battle Ash.

    Man , There just so many better idea ! It let me wonder if the writer even tried to write a good series .
    I guess I have to start writing fan-fiction !
