2nd Gen How do i get into mt silver (crystal)

Ok, so, i;m in kanto, i've done the pokemon league ONCE got 16 gym badges and i need to get to mt silver to beat red (ash)

I go through the begginging of the pokemon leagure tower and there was two men on the left and right. the one on the right has gone though. The one on the left is still there. when i talk to him he says: This way leads to mt silver.


HOW DO I GET THE GUY ON THE LEFT TO MOVE OUT THE WAY!

you need to get a certain amont of pokemon in your pokedex and talk to prof.Oak, if not only talk to him.

where is prof Oak??????? A friend at school says i need 100 pokemon

No Pokemon minimum, as I've beaten Red with a Pokedex of around 10. You need to speak to Oak in Pallet Town, THEN, you have to walk through the guard station from the Kanto side (Vermilion I think). After that, you're in the routes to get to Red.
