[Script] How do I activate running shoes?

Hello all, this feels like a stupid question, but how do I activate the running shoes in Fire Red hack?
I know it's flag 0x82f, if I use seflag 0x82f nothing happens and the shoes don't activate, if I try special 0x82f it freezes the game. Anybody able to tell me what to do?

I sorted it, if anyone's wondering you need to edit the map header 'show name on entering' box to type 02 ????????????? to be able to run
