I'm new to Hex Maniac Advance, saw a few tutorials on changing the title screen for gba games. I went and created my own, making sure that it doesnt have too many colors, and that its the same size and shape as the default pokemon sapphire title image. It inserted ok without any issue in HMA like this -

however, when I go to look at it in game... it looks like this -

is there something that I am doing wrong? I would really appreciate some help with getting this resolved. Please and thank you.

It's just because the ruby and sapphire title screens are more complicated than a static image. They overwrite various palette slots to apply colour effects to the image.
You'll need a basic understanding of palettes to fix this. Open this image in HMA's image editor to see what I mean. The first thing to note is that there are actually 3 pages of palettes, not just 1. I am unsure if the middle one is unused. In any case out of these seemingly 48 slots of colours, some are reserved by the code to apply colour effects. For example, the very last colour on the first page cycles between blue and black to give Groudon his glowing blue lines in Pokemon Ruby. You'll want to avoid using this colour slot. Additionally, the first slot on the third page becomes black. You'll want to avoid using this colour slot.
Likewise you'll have to experiment with the slots through trial and error to see which ones can be used simply for the base image, and which ones are overwritten by effects.

Alright, I'll toy around with the palettes and check them closer. Thank you! I'll report back in a bit after I make some changes and show the results.

Appears to be fixed. Appreciate it. Used the "red" affect from Kyogre's runes to make the eye affect. I think it turned out pretty alright!
