edit: I like to play the game while listening to BGM of my choice, but still keep the sound effects in for the same game experience. So I'm trying to create a patch that disables all music in Pokemon FireRed and Emerald. Is there an existing "blank", silent or muted sound in FireRed and Emerald? So that I can repoint the song table entirely to that blank sample? Or perhaps there's a better way to do it? thanks in advance.

I tried replacing a music file with a blank midi file, it worked for just one track, say Littleroot town, for example, but when I made all the entries in the song table point to it, the game wouldn't go past the gamefreak logo.

(the game runs fine if I change all the song table pointers to one of the unedited songs, like say, the Teachy TV theme, which is the last entry in Emerald. but that doesn't solve my problem.)

What do you mean exactly? Do you want no sound for a specific route/town or the whole game? An easy way to do this would be to just in a script "playsong 0x0" or in A-map header have music to be 0000

The whole game, not map-wise. Perhaps I could change every map in advance map but that is too tedious, and I guess it still keeps in a lot of music that is hard-coded or triggered through scripts

(I actually like to listen to my own music while playing, but want to keep the sound effects in for a better experience, hence the need.)
