Dad here again with a question from my son.

How does the man in Fallarbor town teach my pokemon swampert the hydropump attack?

I hope this question makes sense, because it doesn't to me.

    Thanks
    Russ

Swampert alone cannot learn Hydro Pump. You need to lvl up Mudkip as a Mudkip until it learns Hydro Pump, then evolve it. Use heartscale to bring back moves such as earthquake. Right now in your situation Swampert cannot possibly learn hydro pump, sorry!

Swampert can learn it (hence why SPP's Pokedex isn't the best because of situations like this). It just needs to stay as Mudkip to pick up Hydro Pump then evolve (as mentioned above).

Thanks for the information. At what level does Mudkip learn HydroPUmp?

I'm just a messenger for my 7 year old. I have no idea of what I'm asking.

    Thanks

something like 43? it's somewhere in the 40s. It doesn't take long if you use rare candy though.

he learns it at 41 the only move you lose is muddy water and that just the same as surf but weaker.

Well then how do you get it to evoelv in to Swampert?

Just give Mudkip the everstone to hold on to (or hit the B button whenever you see the evolution screen) until it learns Hydro Pump. The game gives you a chance to evolve every level after you met the basic requirement level. So say you declined evolution at lvl 16 and you lvled up to lvl 17. It'll try to evolve again. Decline it. And then at lvl 18 it'll try to evolve again and so on.

Frostweaver is there any other Pokemon like Mudkip where it is better to hold off on letting them evolve?

Well I personally won't let Swampert learn Hydro Pump anyway O.o; And these cases are very rare as not that many Pokemon goes under stuff like that. On top of that, most likely those moves won't matter... Shroomish is probably the only one that's majorly effected this way.

    Some of those cases are:

-Torchic (hold it until it learns flamethrower, in order to save some cash XD)

-Shroomish (get SPORE! Must have! Use heart scale to get back mach punch afterward)

-any stone evolutions, because then they won't learn anything after they evolved (ex: Vulpix and Ninetales)

hopefully your swampert is female then all u need to do is breed it
raise the mudkip to lv. 42 and it'll learn hydro pump then
swampert istself cannot learn hydropump naturally

Thanks for the information. I'm a little late because our internet was done.

OK, so he needs to have Mudkip learn hydropump. Now my son is asking when/where does Mudkip evolve into Marstomp(?) and then at what level doesn Marstomp evolve into Swampert?

Am I making an sense, because I don't even understand what I'm asking! Ah, the joys of being a parent!

when it tries to evolve hit the b button to stop mudkip from evolving. after you do this, it will try to evolve again on every level. just keep doing this until its level 41 or 42 and it learns hydro pump. then instead of hitting b to stop it evolving just let it evolve into marshoomtop or wutever. then it will evolve into swampert the next level and it will know hydro pump
