Gaia Online is an online hangout that incorporates social networking, gaming, and a virtual world.

Do any of you guys get on Gaia? I used to be a member quite some time ago and recently got back into it. It's super fun. :P

I think it was around 2004-2005 that I was really into the .hack anime and stumbled upon Gaia while trying to find a similar online game. I loved the whole feel of the site and designing my own characters. I remember spending YEARS trying to get a CoCo Kitty Plush. xD

I feel like things started going down-hill after they removed the anime-style banner with the red-haired boy and neko girl, though. It just doesn't feel as... inviting? Trolls seem a lot more common since then as well. And SOOO many inappropriate sexual topics... Ugh! And let's not forget about inflation.

I still sign-in on a daily bases, but pretty much only for Daily Chance and Dumpster Dive to earn gold for art. I also check the Pokémon subforum, but there are rarely any topics that make me bite. I had gotten into Lake Kindred for a while (which nowadays is pretty much the only way to make a reasonable amount of gold without spending real cash), but I think I burned myself out on it.

I lost my original account that had all my expensive items due to hacking, and nowadays I visit maybe once a year and that's just to bring up the page on a lesser account and see what they're doing to the place.

Back in 2004-2006 I spent a lot of time there, even in 2007 and '08, but my activity started dying around that time. My friends and I used to be on there for hours to RP and get items, though. Also the NPC stories used to be fun to participate in. At one point the "manga" plot tied into a big chunk of the site's activity and I remember having a lot of fun being involved in that, and holiday events and what not. Good times as far as my internet experience goes, haha.

It's actually been quite sometime since I've logged onto there. The last time I really hung out on there...I'm going to say sometime in the year of our lord 2012. I basically took a look at how it was basically 4chan away from 4chan, threw my hands up in the air, and said "fuck it, I'm done."

I've done the same thing with the Round Table in this forum for opposite reasons: whereas Gaia Online has stupid politically incorrect opinions with little basis in fact, the PC Round Table has stupid tolerant/acception opinions with little basis in fact.

What does that mean? It means I am a deeply confused silly person with more privilege in life than he knows what to do with and should probably just die, but at least he had the good sense to leave Gaia Online in the stealth end-of-the-world-year and never look back.
