Hello, sorry if I'm not in the right place!

I found some of my old Pokemon cards and I've done a bit of research on what is rare and what isn't. I've had them pre graded by a company in the UK that would estimate between 7-9 PSA. I also have the complete Southern islands collections that were considered to be on the same grading scale.

    Basically, are they worth anything?

I've got around 50+ more cards that I don't believe to be worth much but happy to upload the photos for you all to clarify as I'm looking to sell them all.

    Eynonj,

As I am sure you are aware, condition is everything. Your cards are not worth the cost of professional grading (PSA or Beckett) if they are 7's or 8's, with a few exceptions. If one or more is a 9, then it depends on the card (the Japanese Neo Charizard for example). Those would be worth the cost of grading if you think they would get a grade of 9. If not, it's probably not worth your time or money.

The one definite exception is the Base Venusaur. Even an 8 is worth the cost of getting it graded and yours looks pretty good from what I can see. The base set Mewtwo is also probably worth the cost of grading if its at least an 8.

The Southern Islands cards sell for $150 to $250 for a factory sealed 18 card set (If it has the binder and is factory sealed, they go for more) so those definitely are not worth the cost of grading.

The cost of getting a single card graded is between $80 and $120 and takes some time. So you would need to increase the selling price by at least that amount to warrant the cost. Keep in mind that I am giving you US costs and grading companies, I'm not too familiar with UK stuff as I assume you are in the UK?

At minimum, get the cards out of those folders and into penny sleeves and then semi rigid sleeves. The display folders ruin the edges (whiting).

I suggest you go on ebay and look at what your cards are selling for, both as graded and as raw (ungraded). You will see the difference and can make up your own mind on whether it's worth it to you. Make sure you filter ebay to "Sold" so you can see what people are actually paying. Just because someone lists a card for $1000.00 US, it doesn't mean that someone else is actually paying that amount for the card.

    Hope this helps,
    Bo
