2nd Gen First time beating Red.

i was done. because it took me so much. to level up a dumb ass Totodile(my friend one)
TO LEVEL 60 SO IT CAN MISS SURF EVERY SINGLE TIME. so after i beat it. Red. i was done whit the game for ever. never got on it ever again. and thats why i hate the battle against Red. cause its sucks.

after you beat the 8th gym, the game sort of streamlines you to stick with your 6 champions. I managed to get my pokemon up to lvl 70 just fine however with trade. But also so long as I stick with them through gym battles and trainer battles, I can level up quickly

Back then, I was completely new to Pokémon series, generally, so I wasn't as good at battling as I might be at the moment.

Exploring Mountain Silver was rather fun, running into all those strong wild Pokémon, going through cave rooms, and so forth. When I had met Red there, it was rather surprising, as I wasn't expecting to see anybody in person; I thought I would be encountering some legendary of sorts, kind of like how it was with Ho-Oh and Lugia.

When I'd talked to Red and got myself into a battle, things seemed to have been rather difficult; my team, in comparison to his, was under-leveled, and therefore, the members weren't able to deal as much damage to his Pokémon as they could. First time when I had faced this person, I definitely wound up losing. I would have reset my game instead of going back and whatnot, but unfortunately, I did not save prior to battling, so I was unable to. Though, I did manage to get him beaten few days afterward, after training my Pokémon more and spending some cash under recover items.

I thought the fight against Red was going to be really difficult, so I figured I would attempt it, with the assumption that I would fail and need to train more. However, I actually found it fairly straightforward, and easily beat him on my first attempt (without being terribly high leveled or having a good team). I ended up turning off game at the end of the battle without saving because I didn't want to have beaten him so easily, and beat him again a few days later instead.

Looking back, the Mt. Silver was a bit underwhelming as a last dungeon, at least compared to Cerulean's Unknown Dungeon. The Pokémon in it weren't very strong and there weren't many secrets. It's notable for being home to Larvitar and Misdreavus, but other than that, all you get are the standard cavemons.

My Pokémon were level 60 when I fought Red, and I beat him without much effort, but I had trained a Houndoom specifically to deal with Psychics and had much trouble with Snorlax.

In HeartGold, just for the fun of it, I beat him with a Kingdra full of statboosters.

I'm not sure people are talking about here. I'm pretty sure beating Red will give you the credits, and Surf is a 100% accuracy move.

I was 12 when I first beat him, I forgot who else besides Feraligator and Ampharos I used, but I remember at least one victory from him back then. I played Gold when that happened.

It was great.Although I have beaten him in Liquid Crystal and my team was Typhlosion,Kingdra,Salamence,Raichu,Gengar and Politoed

Honestly I beat him on my first try, but this is due to the usage of revives and Full Restores, but not too much. Still pretty satisfying to beat the hardest trainer in the game.

My only problem with Red is just Snorlax though.

lol I think this is under 'Metal + Colour', so I wonder if that version/team counts. That aside, that's a real bad team, I'll praise you for your good taste.

That was not my HOF team tho plus I can't remember what was my team on the original one but Typh was my starter and I was like 6 when I beat Red

It was pretty satisfying, though it was a fairly easy battle because it really just came down to a matter of type trumping. Can't remember what my team was except for Typhlosion, but it wasn't as difficult as I thought it'd be. ^^

I don't really remember my team at the time, but that's probably because I didn't really have one. I'm sure it was mostly just Typhlosion and maybe Ho-oh... I didn't really do teams when I was younger.

That being said, I don't remember him being that difficult to beat. I'm sure I had a massive amount of revives and full restores though.

...and I thought it did play the credits again?

I remember in soulsilver I had a level 100 maganium and still couldn't beat him. when I lost the game, I went into a deep sadness (don't worry I got a new SS and beat Red!)

I remember when i beat him after about 4 years I was underwhelmed. I just wasn't satisfied.

I actually didn't even know about Red when I was a younger kid plying through Gold. I defeated all 16 gyms and both sets of Elite 4 and champions and thought that I had beaten the games so stopped playing. A few years later I would learn abut Red when I got HeartGold, then I eventually was able to beat him. I had Pokemon at levels 60-70 but still had trouble beating him. I remember that my Feraligtr took out a lot of his Pokemon for me but I trained that guy into the high 70s by that point.
