hi im i couldn't find a good Ev training faq so i just wanna post my plan here and see if it works

im trying to max Blastoise sp defense stat at the moment it a squirtle
it lv5
nature: Calm
Item hold : macho brace
it has POKERUS
when it evolves in to a blastoise im going to give it the max zinc i can give it(is this bad or good)

so will this get my blastoise the max SP defense it can get(BTW it 339)

Actually, I would suggest going with Bold over Careful. It has a higher base Def and lacks any physical weakness, making it a prime candidate to come in against a physical attacker.

If you insist on Careful, make sure you feed it Zinc before you do ANY battling. Zinc can only be used until your Pokemon has reached 100 Def points. So, by feeding it 10 Zinc off the bat, you only have to worry about 152 more EV points. With Pokerus AND Macho Brace, you will be done in no time. I would highly suggest you do your training on Route 21. You will only find Tangela there, that will give you 3 Def EV points with each battle, meaning your Pokemon will max out its Def EV in 51 battles. Easy cheesy.

BTW - You will only be able to achieve 339 in SDef if you have a flawless SDef IV. Otherwise it will fall anywhere between 308 and 339.

how do you get flawless SDef IV?
and battle pokemon will effect pokemon stats bonus when leveling up?
if my squirte beats a legendary it get like +5?

You get flawless IVs mainly by luck, unless you are patient through breeding, although Emerald is the best game to use for breeding.

ALL Pokemon in the game have a very specific EV stat and number associated with it. For example, every time you battle a Riachu, all Pokemon that participated in the battle (and any in your party holding the Exp Share) will gain 3 Spd EV points. Tangela is 1 Def EV, Clefable yields 3 HP EVs, Rayquaza yields 2 Atk and 1 SAtk EVs, and so on. BTW, my previous post was the best place to earn Def EV points, not SDef. The best SDef route is using Surf at Memorial Pillar. There you will only find Pokemon (Hoppip/Tentacool/Tentacruel) that have SDef EVs.

No, Legendaries offer no increased EV benefit whatsoever.

Serebii net, or remembering.

Serebii net has a list of what Pokemon give what EVs. =P And all you have to do is be able to remember where to find them.

Meh. I don't like serebii. For me, I always use Metalkid's Pokemon Program. You can download it to your PC/laptop. I find it VERY handy.

As for the routes, MKPP has a list of EV points for every route in FRLG and RSE. I just did some research and found the routes that gave me the highest chances of Pokemon with the same EV stats. Here is my list:

Special Defense (Ruby/Sapphire): Tentacool/Tentacruel, Abandoned Ship (Surf) 100%

HP (FireRed): Wooper, Ruin Valley (Surf) 100%

In Emerald, there are better spots than the ones you said for Attack and HP. HP can be better gleaned in Rusturf Tunnel, in which...well, biking makes for faster finding of Pokemon.

Also, Attack can be found in Mt. Pyre off Shuppet. 100%. Wild Pokemon is much faster than Super Rod.

Rofl. And Speed can also be found in Route 118, with Electrike and stuff.

is their a way to see how much they gain per lv? is it how many times you encounter the pokemon or by how many times to kill it in order to see the +# ?
EX my blastoise is lv 36 and face a charizard(EV 3 SP attack) it encounter it 30 times and it killed it 25times inorder to lv up

Feel free to object, but I have tested this. What you aren't considering is that while you can cover more ground on the bike in Rusturf, you will only encounter Whismur that earn you 1 HP EV. If you Surf on the pond at Petalburg, you only encounter Marill that give you 2 HP EV. Over a 10 minute period, you earn more EV points through Marill than Whismur.

For Atk EV, it is more about percentages. I admit you have to be pretty good using the Super Rod, but your reward is 40% of the time you will hook a Sharpedo that gives you, once again, 2 Atk EVs instead of the 1Atk EV Shuppet gives. So, if you suck at fishing I would Mt. Pyre. Otherwise, you net more EV points in the same amount of time on Route 118.

Thanks for Route 118 for Spd EV though. That will definitely net more Spd EVs points. *changed*

EVs don't work that way. They have nothing to do with Exp points. For every 4 EV points your Pokemon earn, the corresponding stat will increase by a fraction of 1 point (depending on your current level) the next time it levels up. Don't be surprised to not see a dramatic increase in a stat though, because the increase will only fully present itself when the Pokemon reaches Lv100.

It actually isn't a guy. In Slateport City, there is the outside market area. The Energy Guru (the dude that sells you $9800 vitamins) is to the south and next to him is his wife. She will reward your Pokemon with an Effort Ribbon once it has achieved 510 EV points.

Yes. You only earn EV points when you defeat the opposing Pokemon. While your math is correct, it doesn't exactly work that way. Those 4 EV points will only increase the stat by 1 when your Pokemon reaches Lv100. Otherwise, it will be a fraction of that, depending on what level your Pokemon currently is. For me, it is much easier to track the EV points than it is the stat points anyway.

Um, Charizard gives 3 EV points, but that's the idea, yes.

You are forgetting that Pokerus doubles the EV points earned and the Mach Brace doubles it again. 3 x 2 = 6 x 2 = 12

That is why I find a Pokemon with Pokerus to be much more valuable than one of a different color.
