I have a shiny adamant totodile that I'm dieing to EV train and see if it has good IV's. I've looked all over google for a nice feraligatr moveset, and I haven't found one. I've seen a few varieties but I need to know what you all think.

    Feraligatr@Life Orb
    Adamant
    252 attack 252 speed 4 hp
    Dragon Dance
    Earthquake
    Waterfall
    Ice Punch/Ice Fang

Dragon Dance is great but prevents avalance, so I've come up with Icepunch and Ice Fang. I can't really decide which one is best and I've seen moveset's for each of them. Waterfall I put for STAB as Crunch doesn't have as much type Coverage, but is it better? Please tell me what you think.

Ironically, that's exactly what I was thinking. Except Focus Sash or Wacan Berry instead of Life Orb.

    Feraligatr@Wacan Berry
    Nature: Adamant
    Trait: Torrent
    EVs: 252 SPD / 200 HP / 52 ATK

    Waterfall
    Ice Punch
    Night Slash
    Dragon Dance

If you're lucky to get in two DD's, you've all but won the match. With the HP, he's bulky enough to survive most non-Super Effective attacks. Hawtness. Waterfall's Strong Enough to put a huge dent in Electric-types, so EQ isn't needed.

You do realize Feraligatr can't learn Night Slash right, and you also do realize that Dark Attacks serve no useful purpose on a Water Type Sweeper that's not weak against Psychic or Ghost at all, right?

Night Slash is worse than Crunch, so why Night Slash? Ok, EV's I like, but EQ will help with other pokemon like Magnezone, but I'll probably do Crunch instead.

Ok well I'm glad someone is thinking with me. What does a Wacan Berry do? Depower thunder moves?

Sorry I missed you. Sorry for the double post. So, is EQ better than Crunch?

Yes, by 50%. It'll make Electric attackers think twice as Gatr lives and onslaughts the whole team.
And yes, Earthquake is a LOT more useful than crunch, as it packs more power.

Ok thanks.Feraligatr is BL right? Can it strive in the OU metagame, or is it a stick in the mud?

Dang, I was reading his post. Sorry about that... :-\

I run Shadow Claw on my one Feraligatr only because the team it's on has a huge Ghost Weakness. And Mismagius is a living nightmare with its Thunderbolting.

Crap, I feel like an idiot. Dang Britney Spears and her new album being so good.

Technically, I'd say Gatrs is BL since it gets Dragon Dance now.
But it's overshadowed by Gyarados when it comes to OU, and people prefer that.

so Gatr is a minyme Garydos without the inferior typing :P Can it stand up in OU or does it fall apart, aside from it being wannaby garydos.

Feraligatr is the best man, Totodile's my favourite so it naturally comes with it. But I'd like to point something out to you. You have to have Emerald to get both Ice Punch and Dragon Dance on a Feraligatr.

Now Feraligatr is quite bulky so I like to run it with an Impish nature, but Adamant does just fine. I do suggest you definately give it some Defense EV's, it's too good to pass up on.

    Here's a more Defensive EV spread. 200 Def/156 Spd/100 Atk/52 HP
    And a more Offensive one. 232 Spd/136 Atk/100 HP/40 Def.

That' just me though as I like to add staying power to all my pokemon. Both sets are very flexible, with room for more EV's to be added to Atk if wished.

well, I'm not going to keep him out on pokemon with super effective attacks and defense won't do a thing with the ever so popular Thunderbolt. Offense is better. Icepunch a DD can be obtained from dragonite I think. and it knows icepunch and DD anyways, so I don't care. Regardless, thanks for the help. I'm getting work on it as soon as I can.

The Defense keeps him alive against agiligross' or something like that you might have him face (whether intentionally or not). Or if your switching in on something. It's an insurrance marker. As I said though (in a different way) that it depends on if you want him to Sweep or to Tank/back-up Sweep.

And the only way to get Ice Punch on Dragonite is through Emerald. Sadly only Fire Punch and Thunder Punch are learned by it.
