do i have to htch it or can you trade eggs

You can trade eggs only in Gen. 4, so you will have to hatch it before being able to trade it.

Actually, you can trade eggs, I just tested it. However, you can't trade eggs if the person receiving the egg is trading away the only pokemon in their team, because you can't have a team that is just eggs.
