[Tool] Editing a 3DS Hack

    Hi! I'm brand new to making hacks. My butch and I wanted to tweak an USUM hack to include more type changes and stat changes. I can't get p3DS to open the download (prismatic moon if ur wondering) and merging the output RomFS of our changes with the download crashes the game on startup. What should I do?
     
    Hi! Not sure what steps you're taking exactly so I'll explain the whole process:

    • Get a full, unpacked romfs folder for use with pk3ds
    • Copy the "a" folder from the hack's download (found in luma\titles\00040000001B5100\romfs) to the "a" folder in the romfs. Make sure the folders are merged rather than replaced so that you've got the same number of files in the romfs before and after merging
    • Make your changes using pk3DS
    • Copy the edited files back into the hack's "a" folder. For Pokemon changes, the relevant files are a\0\1\3 (level up moves), a\0\1\4 (evolution data) and a\0\1\7 (personal data: stats, types, TMHM compatibility, etc.). Note that these are file paths, so a/0/1/3 is a file named "3" in a folder named "1" in a folder named "0" etc.
    • Copy the luma folder to the root of your 3DS SD card

    This is how I update my 3DS hacks, so it should work, but let me know if not.

    sinserest appologies for the necro here but google lead me here on my own search to achieve something similar with Ultra Moon and the Penumbra Moon patch/hack and i was wondering if you'd be so kind as to help me out. i just can not for the life of me get this thing to open in PK3DS, i've tryed the romfs folder inside the patch on it's own, tried the extracted one from the game itelf and tried your above description all to no avail, everything i've done either returns zero result whatsoever or it tells me something about unneccessary files, so either it doesn't work with this particular hack or i'm missing something painfully obvious.

    any chance you could please EILI5 please, i've spent entirely too long searching about this and i just wanna play

    Make sure you're choosing to open the folder that contains the entire unpacked ROM, not just its romfs folder.

    Essentially I would like to play your prismatic moon rom hack but with an increased Shiny Rate. Is this possible?
