e-Reader Compatibility with DS Lite

Some of you may have seen my blog entry I made yesterday. I'm currently having trouble making what I'm trying to do work possibly because I only have one GBA handheld console. As I mentioned in the updated text of my blog entry, I realised the process would not work because the DS is missing some hardware involving the link cable.

I'm requesting someone with an e-Reader to have it inserted in the DS Lite and to connect it to any compatible GBA game to see whether or not it works.

I personally have tried it myself with two different DS Lites and my Sapphire game in my GBA SP doesn't seem to respond at all. I have even tried to transfer a berry from one of the e-Card berries and the same happens.

There are currently four different scenarios:
    • My link cable is broken
    • My e-Reader has become corrupt from the restoring of the Eon Ticket save
    • The DS Lite isn't compatible
    • The link cable ports are screwed in some way

    * Has a feeling no one will respond.

the e-Reader is for gameboy advance, right? And you have a DS Lite, right? The DS Lite is not compatible unless someone makes a fake. You can try finding one, But if they do exist, I think they are R A R E.

The e-Reader is compatible with the DS Lite, partially anyway in my theory. There are even multiple sources on the internet. Realistically, the e-Reader is just another GBA cartridge so there isn't any reason why it shouldn't work with the DS Lite. I bought my e-Reader a long time ago in a retail store when it just came out in Australia and I know my e-Reader is definitely genuine.

Don't know if it's any help Eon-Rider, but Wikipedia does have a small section on it if you haven't already seen it.

The e-Reader can connect to the DS Lite, but not the original DS. The e-Reader can however be modified to fit into the original DS. In either case, there is no support for linking features, as neither system has a link cable port. The e-Reader does not show up on the DS as a GBA game, nor does it appear to be recognized. It can be used however, by booting a standard GBA game, and then quickly swapping the game cartridge with the e-Reader.

Good luck in getting it to work.

Thanks for the attempted help but it doesn't relate to my situation in anyway. =P

I'm already into the actual e-Reader menu which is what the bolded sentence is explaining. I did find that paragraph slightly unusual though. It states that the DS will not recognise the e-Reader yet both of my DS Lites do recognise it. I saw a YouTube video of someone running an e-Reader in their DS Lite and their DS Lite recognised it likewise.

There is a more significant sentence in the paragraph you provided though.

This is the sentence I have been puzzled over since my attempt at transferring the card did not work. Sure the DS does not have a link cable port but the e-Reader does and that's what the manual even states to use when connecting to another GBA.

Yes, the e-Reader can and always has been able to connect to the DS Lite as a stand-alone device. However...

...It could be that the e-Reader has to use something in the GBA link software in order to connect, as the second Link connection on the e-Reader is usually plugged into the Game Boy Advance port during use. Without a link port of its own, the DS Lite cannot fulfill this role and thus you are unable to use it to send over the Eon Ticket. I believe this would technically make your fourth scenario the case here.
