Dubbed Anime That Make You Cringe

inb4 Naruto, 4kids One Piece, "I don't like dubs at all", etc.

The dub I dislike the most is the one for Sasami Magical Girls Club because of the way they pronounce "Sasami". For some reason they put the emphasis on the I and it sounds really, really weird. It wouldn't bother me if it was a one-time thing like that preview for the Persona 4 dub where Persona was pronounced "Persahna", but they say "Sasami" quite a lot and it's difficult to ignore.

Well, BlackStar's voice in Soul Eater was pretty terrible -- it's even worse when you first read the manga before watching the show, and then he bursts in with this terrible, squeaking 5-year-old voice. . . It was nothing like I had expected, or wanted to expect. I did like everyone else's voices (especially Death), but BlackStar's made me cringe, for sure.

Dubbed anime? I already puke just from hearing those words together.
I can't stand English voices.
The last anime I watched in English was half of Pokemon Diamond and Pearl and is and will be the last.

I remember trying to watch Death Note and after 10 seconds I have closed the player and deleted the folder.

I can't even play JP games with English voices.

This ;-;.

I find the majority of dub-voices pretty bad... to be honest. I often feel like they lack any depth and are really monotonous.

Plus, you can watch 10 different animes and pick out the exact same people voicing the same standard character.

I dislike Dubbed animes plus the last time i watched a Dubbed anime it would be where Killer Bee vs. Sasuke and that one was so Jokes but don't get me started on the One Piece 4kids Dub...

A lot of dubs are bad, but one of the worst I'd ever watched was Cyborg 009.

Pokémon :D

And the Swedish dub of Sailor Moon. I used to love it, but going back and watching it now, it's... Oh my god. So weird.

I find main protagonists that it is safe to assume have hit puberty and the speak with little girl voices. Luffy is a good one... 4KIDS FTW

You know what? I liked the dubbed voice cast in the original Beyblade series I watched back when I was a kid. Out of curiosity I took a glimpse of the first season of the Metal Saga and oh boy the main protagonist (lol names) sounds so bad I can't take him seriously when he gets all angry or in serious mode. To me he sounds like a little child squawking "Gooooo Pegasuuuuuus" and annoys me to no end u.u

^F'n this.

Beyblade Metal Fusion is just awful. There are so many anime cliche's in that show. Transformations, evil organizations, dark sides, friendship bullcrap etc.

That show is precisely why I made this thread. Every time if comes on in the morning I have to mute my TV just to escape it's crappiness.

Inb4 you ask, why don't you just turn the channel. Nothing good is on at 7AM EST.

I actually don't mind dubbed anime. In some cases, like Hetalia, where the characters aren't Japanese and should have accents, I prefer dubbed (Cromartie High, too. Dubbed version sounds like an abridged series and makes it 10x funnier).

But Rozen Maiden... Rozen Maiden was awful. I thought, "Well I saw Higurashi in English, so I'm pretty sure I can handle any dub!" No. I couldn't. One can only take so much "Jooon-kooooon!" before bleeding from the ears. XD

I don't know where I gave up, but I'm pretty sure I didn't make it past ep. 5.

Dragon Ball (anything before Kai, GT and pre-Z were okay but Z was just awful)
Pokémon (even 4Kids was iffy back then, their first episodes were acted awkwardly as hell), Yu-Gi-Oh, etc.
Beyblade Metal, etc. (was mentioned earlier in the thread).

As someone who wants to go into dub voice acting, a lot of shows dubs are actually pretty good and I give everyone a chance. Ash493, I have no idea what you mean with Death Note's dub. Death Note has one of the best dubs out there, I'll take English Misa and Ryuk over the Japanese ones. But, for most of the cast I'll take either version. Perhaps I'm bias there, but, there you go. Also, English sounds nothing like Japanese, expecting a similar performance to the Japanese doesn't always work for English.

You should watch Ghost Stories for the hell of it. The actual voice acting is alright, but the script is what everybody watches for. It's a completely different script from the original because the original bombed so badly that Aniplex approved of a comedic, half-improvised script in hopes that it'd boost sales.

Has anyone seen Battle of the Planets? That one was a major screw-up. I saw an old tape of it and it was awful. I was especially bothered by the fact that they changed the whole premise of Gatchaman. (Subsequent Gatchaman dubs were a little better, but it still needs a good one.)

I watch exculsively dubs.
1. I won't read text on a screen while watching a show. That is counterproductive and makes me miss things.
2. I don't want to listen to a different language for entertainment. When I look away, I don't want to miss important dialogue.
3. Every dub I've seen hasn't been that bad.

That being said. I didn't like the [C] Control dub very much

for some reason, i really hated Neon Genesis Evangelion's dub.

I'm not sure how nobody's mentioned Angel Beats, at least when it comes to dubbed voice acting. I've only seen one or two episodes of the dub but the misfire that went on there is unmistakable.
