The title says it all. Do you like single type pokemon, or dual type pokemon and why?

I like dual types myself, the right type ups can easily limit your weaknesses.

I like monotypes, as long as they have a movepool that has a range of different types - that way you can cover a lot without exposing too many weaknesses, and people are much more surprised when you use a non-stab move haha.

Some dual types are good though, and it's the only way to cover all ground really ( and get rid of some really annoying weaknesses to common types).

    Dual types...

They can have advantages: Scrafty, Spiritomb and Sableye...
But also a 4x damage: Gliscor, Swanna and Volcarona...

My playing style defined is dual-types. I only catch and use dual-types. I teach them only moves of those types. I catch and train all dual-types in that game. I'm practically a dual-type master (just on my Fire Red ._.).
So dual-types; all day every day

I went with Dual but it's a double-edged sword. As much as you could be strong against many types, many types could be strong against you and it will be more difficult to cover those weaknesses.

I really like dual-types, especially when their typing creates more resistances than weaknesses. Galvantula's typing for example neutralizes two major weaknesses from its constituent types, leaving only a two of net weaknesses.

Monos; easier to manage. For the purposes of this thread I would take Normal-Flying as monotypical.
That said, I have a love for certain rare combinations such as Rock-Flying, Fire-Rock and Water-Electric.

I don't necessarily prefer one over the other. Mono-types are simpler to deal with, especially considering type weaknesses/resistances and such, but dual-types are interesting because of all the new type combinations we get every game. Though I don't really try to, I tend to end up with a balance of the two in my teams.

I'm a dual type player because I like having STAB on 2 types at once so that 1 type can cover whatever the other can't hit (harder). It's even better if the STABs have good coverage together (like Scrafty's and Garchomp's).

Mono-types are okay, as long as they have a decent movepool to work with.

I find myself in the minority here. In other words, I prefer single-typed Pokémon. But honestly, my preference for dual-types largely depends on the types you mash together. Moreover, I just personally think single-types are awesome, mainly because I like more of these Pokémon than the rest.

To prove my point: aesthetically speaking, I hate how some Pokémon look as if they were forced to appear more equally for their dual-types. There are a lot of well-designed ones, I give you that, but some just stink. It just starts to seem as if creativity isn't limitless, if only momentarily.
Sometimes, the duality doesn't even make sense. I don't really feel like nitpicking but I honestly think a few Pokémon turn weak in battles just because they had another type. Not to mention how it contributes to how forced the appearance of a Pokémon looks.

There are positives to dual-typing, most of them mentioned by you guys. I particularly like the gameplay positives of doubling STAB that comes with it. And it sort of balances out the negative ones, which makes me happy. In effect, I hope the next Pokémon generations would have better examples of the dual-types done right, and make me think otherwise.

Dual-types are great due to their coverage potential and resistance potential, but personally I'm a love of mono-types. I find that 90% of the time, mono-type Pokemon require more thought and strategy put into their move sets etc and this makes for a much more interesting battle. I think dual-types have a higher potential on average, but they're nowhere near as fun to use.

Some dual-types completely suck, just as some mono-types do. Honestly, I prefer dual-types overall because they're more interesting in ways, especially with random type combinations and how that affects battling. Most of the mono-types I like are Normal-types, and I really like them, especially design wise because I always saw them as 'pure' or something.

Actually, my main team is made up of exactly three mono types and three dual types. I do have a slight preference for dual types that cover their weaknesses well since you get twice the STAB options and some weaknesses are neutralized. 4x weaknesses caused by a dual typing can be a pain, though it hasn't stopped me from using Flygon :P

Of course, the three mono-types I use only have one type weakness each so they're less vulnerable. But dual type versatility still wins out. By a slight margin; again, I use both.

    I can't really say I have a preference.
I am old fashioned, so I like the original, mono types, but the duel types added a nice depth and a lot of different types that improved the game nicely, as they seemed to just easily fit in...

I really like Dual-type Pokemon, and most of my favourites reflect this. Apart from the potential for fewer weakness in battling (although certain dual-types can backfire in this regard), the duality can also result in interesting combinations in and of themselves, as well as funky designs. Indeed, when each new generation of Pokemon is unveiled, the first ones I look for are the new dual-type Pokemon, and they normally end up being my favourites (e.g. Gen V: Chandelure).

I love dual-typed Pokemon, they can have amazing movepools such as Scrafty and Gallade. I usually love to mix my team up with both mono-types and dual-types.

Some dual-types end up on my favorites list, like Chandelure.

Always almost dual types. There are some exceptions, like Magmortar, Sawk, Absol--but however, dual proves of more use with having more coverage with two STAB attacks.
