5th Gen Dream World

Did you guys use Dream World often, or at all?

[PokeCommunity.com] Dream World

If so, what were your favourite aspects of Dream World? If not, why didn't you? Do you think that there should of been more stuff they could of done to enrich the experience of Dream World? Feel free to share any thoughts!

I didn't have the right wi-fi for my DS back at the time, so I ended up never using it and I mainly wanted to care about the game more than an online site like the Dream World.

I used the Dream World a bit; I actually got a 3DS just so I could get online in Gen V (granted, it was mostly to get hold of the 2014 Movie Victini, but it still applies), because I couldn't do it with my DS Lite. The thing was, I found it really difficult to get online, even with my 3DS; for the longest time, neither Mystery Gift, the Global Link or the GTS would work for me. I still can't stand to listen to the Gen V version of the Global Link music because it reminds me of all the failed attempts make the thing work.

Once I finally managed to get onto the Global Link, I found it frankly a bit lacklustre. It just seemed to take too long to be able to access different areas and unlock new Pokémon to meet, at least for me. On the other hand, being able to get hold of Hidden Ability Pokémon was cool; I ended up getting hold of a female HA Aerodactyl once, so if I want to breed a competitive one, I'll be able to get it in a Dream Ball.

The Dream World was a good idea, don't get me wrong; I just think it could have been implemented better. Maybe fixing the long load times, or maybe offering more Pokémon like the event Lucario that was available at one time? I don't know.

I also have to admit that I'm a little salty about the Dream World for a reason related to my numerous failed attempts to access it: does anyone remember the popularity poll, where eventually an Arceus was given away over the Global Link? I entered the password for it on the Global Link long before the end of the event period, but couldn't connect to the Dream World to pick it up for some time. By the time I was finally able to access it, Arceus had somehow vanished. The one time I could have got an Arceus, and the universe conspired against me to take it away.

I also never used dream world because I also don't have wifi back then and there is nothing about it in youtube. But my friends try so many failed attempt to access it but all in vain.

I was able to get 4 pokemon and a bunch of items before dreamworld was closed. I find it really cool and unique, how playing mini games outside the actual game could help you in game. The mini games for points was a great feature and something similar should definitely be introduce in future pokemon games.

I used to go on it every day to get pokemon for my national dex. Although, I didn't like how you could only choose one pokemon to transfer to your game per day.

I used the Dream World once or twice to get some HA Pokemon, but I didn't much like the Dream World. It just took too long to do anything, and there wasn't much choice of which Pokemon you caught at the end of everything (or if you could even get a Pokemon at the end of the game). Since it was limited to one visit a day and took a while to do anything, I wasn't able to use the Dream World much.

I never got to freaking use it cause I didn't have ds compatible wi-fi tell after they turned it off so I can't say whether it was good or not just that I wish they hadn't discontinued it so I could have tried it out.

It was a lovely place, but the games are obviously created for children (since Pokemon were almost marketed to that demographic completely).

I love the mini-game that involves a clumsy Foongus waiter and the gem hunting with Sableye comes as a close second along the Pelipper race!

The features that I really love the most from Dream World was the item exchanging, berry planting and decoration! (:

If they were to bring back Dream World someday, I would like to see them include games like Pokemon Shuffle and rhythmic games (think HarmoKnight)! (:

Sun is definitely right, the games are clearly made for kids which is no surprise given the demographic. I likely wouldn't have even tried them since I don't like feeling embarrassed about liking stuff marketed to kids.

I didn't play the Dream World since I played the Gen 5 games few years after their releases (and at the time I didn't play the games yet), but I really hope they would make a return, even on mobile.

I never had much of a care to check it out.

I loved the Dream World!
I had so much playing the mini games, visiting other players' Dream homes, growing berries and getting Pokemon especially ones with the hidden abilites.

I would always spend an hour each day playing. The games were fun. My favorites were the Pelipper race, the Wailord sprout, and the Sableye jewel collection.

The only things I didn't like about it were that it was the only way to grow and get certain berries and that it didn't have every single Pokemon with hidden abilities.

Ultimately, I wished they didn't close it down. It would have been nice to connect it with Generation 6 games particularly to get hidden ability Pokemon.

My DS Lite was the only DS system I had at the time, and because the Wifi capabilities on it were outdated, I couldn't connect to the Dream World.

Thanks to my friend who had the compatible type of Wifi, I was able to visit the Dream World a few times at her house.

I would've liked another version like it to come out for Gen 6, but then again, high online traffic would've been an issue.

I recall hearing how often the Dream World servers crashed due to high traffic. I guess Game Freak didn't want a repeat of that drama when 6th Gen came so it was the likely reason why the Dream World was abandoned and instead replaced by generic minigames.
