Double Slap...Why?

    Something thats always ticked me is Double Slap. For the sole purpose that it says "Double Slap", but can hit up to five times.

    I brung this up because I was trying to catch a Chansey earlier(Diamond), and it did Double Slap 3 Times, hitting the First twice, Second Three times, than Third Five times.

    Why is it like so?
     
    I thought this thread was more like "why does Double-slap exist?" because it's one of the weakest moves ever. I guess they had to give a super-weak move to those pink puffies Cleffa, Igglybuff, and Happiny.

    Lol, I do agree that it's kind of stupid, but it's just one of those annoying little things I guess. Maybe each one is a double slap.. so if it hit 3 times technically it's actually hitting 6, because it's given to such weak pokemon.. xD you never know!
     
    Double-Slap is the stupidest move ever. I mean besides splash. It's not that strong, but when it hits up to 5 times, theres bound to be sometime of critical hit in there. Usually happens on the third. But its more than just an oxymoron its freaking DOUBLE-SLAP.
     
    I think it's called double-slap cuz, like Autaven said, each one is probably a double-slap. One with the palm, and then the returning slap with the back of the hand.

    pip-pap...pip-pap...pip-pap.
