I'm new to Pokemon and I have 3DS so was hinking of buying this game when it came out, but then I see there are two different versions? I'm confused what's the difference do I need to buy both of them?

I don't know if I'm asking in the right place either I'm new to the forums.

We only know the (revealed) version exclusives of both games:

    Exclusive to X:
    -Clauncher
    -Swirlix
    -Xerneas

    Exclusive to Y:
    -Skrelp
    -Spritzee
    -Yveltal

Also, there might be some drastic changes (no promises though I'm sure it's a trend) to certain towns and whatnot such as Opelucid city (Black -> futuristic, White -> old-fashioned), and maybe a different focus on minor details (eg Black was focused on Truth while White was on Ideals). Nothing revealed yet, but there might be a few such differences.

PlatinumDude...you really didn't explain it well XD

Basically, Pokemon games are always released in pairs this is why there are two games. Story wise there is usually barely anything different between the two games so if you get X, it'll have the exact same story as Pokemon Y with a few minor differences.

These minor differences are what we call "Exclusives". As PlatinumDude said, if you were to get Pokemon X you can catch Swirlix, Clauncher, and Xerneas in the game, while if you get Pokemon Y you can catch Spritzee, Skrelp, and Yveltal in the game. These so far are the only exclusives shown.

The reason why there are exclusives is because Gamefreak, the creators/developers of the game series, push a lot of emphasis on its players interacting with other people. So you can trade your exclusives for their exclusives.

When deciding upon a game, version exclusives are usually the selling point since the games are exactly the same thing.

For you, since you are new, try to learn what you can about each Pokemon that is excusive to each game and this should help you learn which game you want to get.

    Basically what he said.

Version exclusives are mainly there to encourage trading, so you can still obtain the ones not on your version. While not all exclusives are revealed yet, it is sometimes the deciding factor into which game people want to play. I usually decide my main version by exclusives alone.
