It's decent. Not bad, not good, medium. (Could be better if Misty was there, but ciii...) I don't like Contests, but Hoenn's were better than Sinnoh's I think.

I would have enjoyed it if a certain spoiled little brat named Max wasn't in it.

To me, AG was to me as Johto was to Scott85/Cybercubed.

I absolutely hated it. The Gym Leaders were portrayed as being similar to Team Rocket in the sense that they lost to Rookie Pokemon far too easily (especially considering the fact that this was Ash's first time that he had to rely on a completely new team.), they had Ash stay in the Top 8 despite the fact that they already had Ash breeze through 3/4ths of the Gym Leaders with his "rookie" team, thus making the Gym Leaders seem even more pathetic in the process (And considering how their losses were too similar to the time that Ash's Caterpie, despite having not only absolutely no trainer battling experience whatsoever, especially in comparison to Koffing, Ekans, AND Meowth, but it was also barely even functioning thanks to its fight against Pidgeotto, it tore them apart as if they were tissue paper, that's saying a lot.). Misty had left to become a Gym Leader (and considering how they had treated the Gym Leaders in Hoenn, I'm guessing it's to mock her and act as though she's so weak, that she should be a gym leader where she will be beaten by rookies endlessly instead of growing stronger. Brock also returned, despite having to return to the Gym [not to mention that his Gym was in far worse condition than Misty's Gym, and thus should have gotten the boot], and his addition was even more pointless than in Johto. They also included your typical female bimbo stereotype from other animes/series, May, as Misty's replacement, and her reasons for joining and even doing Pokemon Training were extremely poor reasonings to begin with (So she wanted adventure? Big Whoop! You can't be a Pokemon Trainer if you hate Pokemon anyways!). Not to mention that the way she was designed was a very poor example for little girls. The Battle Frontier was placed in Kanto for absolutely no reason whatsoever (it certainly wasn't to advertize FRLG, since they only had Squirtle and Bulbasaur.), and Leaf, a girl actually FROM that game, was replaced by, you guessed it, MAY. There was barely anything related to Emerald other than the Battle Frontier. Which reminds me, seeing how the Battle Frontier was located on an Island in the games, they should have placed it THERE and they should have given May (if she had to appear) one of the Johto Starters to advertize the fact that the player can get Johto Starters after receiving the National Dex. They barely even referenced Kanto at all, despite the fact that they were TRAVELLING IN THAT REGION!! Brock's Gym was tarnished yet again, and yet he irresponsibly doesn't take over the Gym, despite the fact that not once, but TWICE the gym had gone through a disaster that was far worse than what Cerulean Gym would have gotten itself into had Misty not returned. Also, the entire Battle Frontier Arc was rendered even MORE pointless after Ash's Pikachu, despite defeating Brandon's Regice, who not only was the pokemon of a trainer whose skills would rival that of even a champion, but is also a Legendary, and Pikachu defeated it ALL BY HIMSELF, would end up becoming even worse than Team Rocket later on in terms of battling skill. By the way, about Misty's reason for being at the gym, even though that was the episode where she caught Gyarados, the reason was just poorly thought of and ultimately pointless (She has to run the Gym just because the PIA would shut it down if she isn't present?! Fantina had left the Gym for far longer than Misty and her sisters did in DP, and it didn't even come close to being shut down. Not to mention that Pewter Gym somehow was allowed to continue operating as a Gym despite failing 2/3rds of the test, and Wattson's Gym would have suffered the same fate (the way to enter ALONE would have been enough to shut it down before they even give the inspection!). Honestly, AG was just horrible.

EDIT: I may not have watched it, but I have researched far more into it than you could imagine.

EDIT2: I also thought of another reason why I hated it. In the Kanto Grand Festival, despite May having done much better than before in regards to her rank, as well as beating Drew, she still cried when she lost to Solidad! Honestly, why even bother crying?! You did much better than before! The only thing I could think of is that she's a sore loser! I mean, Ash, under similar circumstances in the Johto League, never cried, so why should she?! I also hated the Manaphy Movie, especially May's role in it and how she went chicken at the ending in regards to Manaphy being kidnapped! The only redeemable factor of the movie was that there were water pokemon in it. Honestly, the Manaphy movie was far better suited for Misty. I'd reckon that if Manaphy was kidnapped by Phantom in the ending and she was there, she'd actually try to save it.

I just never got into the AG series. Especially after they fired the original voice actors. Then I outright loathed it, sorry to say.

I like these seasons OK, they weren't great. I was really mad when Misty left the show. She was one of my favorite characters. Also, these were the seasons when the voices of the characters got changed and I didn't like that at all. Who cares if they changed companies or whatever, they should have gotten the same people back to do the voice, and paid them whatever they wanted. The Pokemon franchise makes enough money to pay these people.

Anyway, I did like the characters of May and Max (even though Max could get very annoying at times.) I didn't like the whole May having her own trying to be a Pokemon contest person thingy. I thought they should have kept the focus more on Ash. Even though Misty had her dream of becoming the best water Pokemon trainer, and Brock had his dream of becoming the best Pokemon breeder, they never overshadowed Ash, and I felt like May did that.

Overall, though, these were some good seasons and I felt like that it kept the heart of what the show was all about, and kept true to the original seasons while still adding on characters, themes, and new concepts from the newer video games.

Max was a person who brought some good interactions between characters (not good as original trio, but still something). If there wasn't Max, these seasons would be as boring as DP is now.

I loved it, but it kinda lost its touch towards the end of season 8. The reason why I loved the advance generation is because I bought sapphire that march (a few months before the 6th season aired), and I didnt know much about hoenn so I decided to stick around for the anime. lol I remember waking up at 9 and singing along to the openings.
BEST YEARS OF MY LIFE.

I didn't see a whole lot of Advanced Generation, but I did see some of the episodes. I've watched the seasons with Misty and Dawn the most. I liked May better than Dawn I think, and Drew was OK, so the episodes were tolerable but not GREAT.

Actually, I have really been enjoying this newest season. I didn't realize how good Pokemon could be again until this new season, so in comparison, AG was OK ("decent") but this new one is a much better ride.

Yes, yes I did..

Advanced Generation is my favorite series so far, actually.

Oh, you know...

not completely amazing, but decent, I s'ppose...

I hated how they changed the voice actors. I read online that they changed them because in the middle of the series (I believe it was before Season 9?) they decided it would be too expensive to go on with the original voice actors.

Now I'm not sure if this is accurate but if it were I'm pretty darn mad that they would do that >:(

This is what killed AG for me. I actually thought it was fairly-decent prior to Max joining the group. If they really needed 2 characters who did nothing, Brock & Misty would've been more entertaining than Brock & Max. Hell, Misty & Max could've at least added something. He could have crush on her and look up to her as a role model, or something.

The fillers of this region were just dull. At least Johto gave some nice stand-alone episodes. I can't think of a single decent one from Hoenn. Aqua & Magma were pretty boring too, especially the Kyogre/Groudon fight. That was just terrible.

Ash's pokemon were just annoying as hell this region too. Torkoal, Swellow, Corphish, Treecko... they all just bugged me.

I liked these seasons. I started to like May and her contests were more interesting than Dawn's (Drew being the main reason :D ).

I loved it!!!! Not so much advenced challenge :\ Advanced, battle and BF was great though!!!

I dont see how changing the characters oices killed AG xD They didnt change em till battle frontier XD

I liked it.
May's contests were a lot better than Dawn's this year.
I liked May's rivals better than Dawn's too, they were much more awesome.
The new contest characters were done well.
Max at times was really funny.
I liked how Ash did things this year in gym battles.
Ash and Brock's new clothes were great.
Animation was good.
The new villains were intresting.

Con's

Yah, should have remained on Ash more. Many would probaly disagree.
No fun rivals for Ash like they have this year.
Brock was there. It would have been much better had it just been Ash/May/Max with Ash teaching them things. No, Brock just had to show up..

Over all, I give it a hmm 5/5.

i agree 10000000000000000000000000000% i hate him so much i actually skip the episodes focused on him he make me wanna hurl
