6th Gen Did Professor Sycamore know more about Lysandre than he let on?

Outlier

It seemed obvious from the moment he showed up in the game that Lysandre was up to something sinister. Everything from his appearance to the way he spoke just struck me as odd. Professor Sycamore was present for one or two of Lysandre's speeches and didn't seem to be put off at all by any of his righteous ideologies. Like when he said he wanted to create a beautiful world and that those who just take from it are filth! It was all just a little out there if you know what I mean, but the professor just noted he was passionate and didn't say much else.

And wasn't Lysandre's cafe a well known hangout for Team Flare? The very place Professor Sycamore tells you to meet with him after beating the Luminose city gym? There were even two female npc's in the cafe at the time who mentioned they were saving up a large amount of money for Lysandre, implying they had aspirations of joining Team Flare.

I got the impression that gamefreak intentionally made Lysandre's revelation as the leader of Team Flare as anti-climactic for the player as possible, but I'm not quite sure why.

We know Sycamore and Lysandre were acquainted before you meet either one of them, but just how far back do they go and how much did the professor know about Lysandre and his affiliations with Team Flare?

I think it's just common heroic stupidity that makes Sycamore (and all the other characters who interact with Lysandre) not realise that a guy who looks like a mix between Ganondorf and Dracula who openly talks about "destroying the world to keep it forever beautyful" might be a bad guy. It's nothing new really, Pokemon heroes are notorious for being unable to spot obviously evil-looking villains. I mean, Jessie and James could wear a pair of sunglasses and Ash wouldn't be able to recognise them.

For some reason I see the evil sense of Lysandre himself when seeing him on the first glance, but I guess Prof. Sycamore don't want to let the player know about it. I see that Prof. Sycamore wanted to have the opportunity to talk with him peacefully about that but have no time to, and sadly, when he said this to the player, it's too late now. I guess Lysandre is one of Prof. Sycamore's buddy that Professor don't want to lose him.

I had a theory that perhaps it actually was well known that Lysandre was leader of Team Flare, but maybe Team Flare weren't notorious for doing outlandish and evil things? At least up until they started robbing pokeball factories and tried to exterminate nearly all life on earth.

I don't think it was supposed to be secret that he was heading team flare. I don't think they were doing news making crimes til the power plant incident, sycamore ( in a more detailed story world in my mind ) could have met lysandre there to try to ask him to stop ( having proclaimed his self not that great of trainer, but others considering him a great speaker and professor ) but at this point Lysandre was probably still indecisive and secretive about his darker intentions. They might also be growing apart at this point considering sycamore send the two dexio and what's her face to the plant to try and stop team flare only to figure out you arrived first. As team flare becomes more sinister ( laverre & frost cavern ) the proffesor I believes has already begun to piece together lysandres plans and tthat's why he asks you to investigate the kalos legend when he meets you in dendemill.

So with all that crap I just rambled on about, I have another bit of info before I reveal what I'm getting at: in the base in team flare cafe I'm the library room with all the readable books on AZ there is a note at the top left corner of the room on a desk. It is a note from lysandre to team flare talking about how he journeyed all over when he was younger, helping people, but people asked to much and he seen how cruel the world was or something. Now, professor sycamore, he makes a point to tell you several times in game that he was a young traveling trainer.
So I'm assuming they were good friends or either rivals when they were young and became really tight over their journey and that's why the professor was so lenient with him
