Dexter/Dexette

In the anime, it would seem Ash named his Pokedex "Dexter." We can see Ash uses his Pokedex for Pokemon he's already seen before in the anime. (Really, Ash? Looking up Magikarp when you've already seen it in Kanto...) Every new trainer Ash has traveled with has a Pokedex as well. Anyway, of all the characters throughout, which anime do you believe uses the Pokedex the most? Do you think the Pokedex is a useless tool within the show, since plenty of other ways for information exist within the show? Also, which design for the Pokedex did you like best? (I preferably thought Barry's was cute looking.)

I always thought it was odd how the idea of "Dexter" was lost with his next Pokedex upgrade, as the name is never mentioned from Advanced gen on. Though in the games, I always thought the player was the one writing the Pokedex entry, where in the anime it already seems to be filled in for that region besides legendaries. In other words, it becomes just a refrence device rather then -recording data on new Pokemon-. Which I always thought was the point so the Professors could learn more about those Pokemon. :/
