"Dawn's Early Night" Episode Discussion

Overall, a good episode. We haven't seen that Nando guy in a good amount of time, and he made a beautiful performance in the contest. Though Zoey and Dawn made equally good performances, he was remarkable.
Though I don't understand why Jessie had the chance to move on. Though her ending move of the attacks colliding from Cacnea and Mime JR (Forgot what its called x_x;;) was quite a site, the rest of her performance was a little, "Okay... What is this?" worthy.
It was funny when Ash and his Pokemon ran into the door XD
 
I just watched the episode, actually, and I think it was great. Though Dawn did not win, she'll simply have to train harder and go at it again. I feel she'll do fine her second time around.​
 
I thought it was a pretty good Ep I didn't expect Dawn to win because she hasn't been practicing much and lacks Expernice.
 
Great Episode I loved it. Nando's combination of Sunflora's Grasswhistle and Kricitune's Sing was just "REMARKABLE"!lol I hate the remarkable guy he's getting on my nerves. Zoey's combo was good also very beautiful rainbow finish. Then we come to Dawn, she was good too with Piplup and Pachurisu the Discharge and Whirlpool worked well together as well as the bubblebeam/Sweet Kiss combo. Shame she lost through I would have loved to see that Buizel Ice Armor appeal but oh well maybe next time ^-^'. Did you see Buniary's face when they did'nt move on to the next round? Like a: I wanted to preform darnit! noooo! Buizel was all calm, cool, and collected ( which I love about him :P).




Then Zoey lost! lol. I'd thing she would have won especially with Shellos Ice attacks that do good against grass and bug types, but poor Zoey lol. Jessie actually beat Dawn to the finals?! Go Jessie! lol her combo with Mime Jr and Cacnea was funny lol, to bad she lost ...again lol. And I lol'ed at Ash when he hit the door XD, shame he can't compete in the gym this time, ( lol so the game and anime is connected lol. Least he'll get the chance at Veilstone. And the good news: The Tag Battle Arc is coming next week!! I waited for the dubbed version of this, especially since CN is going to show the whole arc. I'm starting to love CN again lol.
 
lol~ you guys have already mentioned the part with the gym door. I Did find that hilarious. Ash is becoming more of the comic relief guy these days. n_n

Heh, I Love Nando. Not as much as Drew, and he's not an "evil" rival like Paul, but he's so exciting and cute with his music. I thought that was interesting also with all the sound notes floating around. Ooo, Kricketune's so awesome~ I love it's nose! I also liked how Nando said it's name <3 lol.

Dawn's appeal? was cool with the hearts and bubbles also!
I really like the computery graphic animation they've come up with. Sometimes it looks so out of place, it's funny. But it still looks awesome~ ._.

I don't really understand why Zoey got angry with Nando at the start. I guess... well, no, I don't know.

I was really surprised when Dawn didn't pass though, and Jessie did. It's new to see a main character booted out so quickly. Jessie's act was odd though. Really, it was.
But overall, it was a cute episode~ Not too intense, but it showed alot of the other characters~ <3

I thought it was funny how dawn thought she did so good and all was psyched and was certain she gonna make it to the final round then didnt even make it to the second part lol
 
Why was Zoey angry at Nando? Because she fell in love with him!! :laugh:

Poor Dawn, at this rate she'll never make the Grand Festival. She didn't have any problems with Pachi this time around but didn't advance. Jessie needs to train her Pokemon better, but knowing how lazy she is, she won't do it. :cheeky:

It was funny when Ash and his Pokemon crashed into the door. I figured on Ash & Pikachu but Starabia and Tertwig to? They are starting to pick up on Ash's bad habits. :t190:
 
This Episode was good which I can tell why Dawn didn't make to the next round she still didn't train much with her Pokemon she really needs to work on that, and by then she will for sure maybe some day get another ribbon. Anyway I laugh when the third Gym was Closed and Ash freaked out. And I'm really exicted for the Tag Battle Episode it's getting really close.

- Whaaaaaaaaaaat? How did Dawn lose the APPEALS round? Dawn's was actually good! Better than Jessie's, anyway. I felt sorry for her, though

You know, this is supposed to be an episode with 4Kids BGM in. I heard 1 or 2, I think, but also a few of PUSAs but a *lot* of original. Unless I'm mistaken...weird. Unless PUSA have been mixing around Japanese BGM? To fit in? I dunno, I haven't seen the original. But there wasn't any of that annoying 4Kids stuff in. I want to see 47 now to see what the BGM was like. Edit: Apparently this episode kept 17 pieces of music! S E V E N T E E N! Not counting the random sounds, that's 12. This makes it the episode that has kept the most amount of BGM! Apparently (this is just what someone else has said) it kept everything intact (except from the preview part. I don't know since the person who uploads them cuts the prievew and opening but apparently the Japanese version didn't have that preview) and just added stuff to fill most of the silence. So everything was kept intact!

All together there was about 4 or 5 seconds of silence haha.

For some reason, Zoey hates people that take part in both contests and gyms. She was angry when Ash took part in a contest, too

I wondered about the singing, too. It's the same as Jiggly singing, but now, you can see the notes. Hm.

Anyway, to be honest, I was unimpressed with everyone's Appeals. They tried, but they weren't as awe-inspiring as past ones. Or, maybe, I'm in the minority with this? Jessie's was the best one, and even that fell apart in the end. Maybe the writers should have put off Hearthome, after all. Because it didn't sound like they were ready.

Nice to see Zoey's prejudice once again. Proof that people in the Pokemon universe aren't as... enlightened yet. My sad attempt at social commentary aside, Zoey, don't ever change.

In terms of Dawn's second Ribbon attempt, well, it's leagues better than May's.

And as some of you observed, "not like she trained ahead of time for it." Where's the effort? That's the main theme I've noticed from the Contests arcs. Hikari, you got your work cut out for you.
 
Okies. I guess nobody notice this but didn't anybody notice Nando's harp? He has like two different kinds. One that he carries around regularly and a super huge one that he uses in Contests. And they are so cute too!!! I mean this harps have Mew on them. The small one has a Mew chancing her tail and the other bigger harp had two Mews playing with each other. CUTE!!!!!

Okies. It really seems like the writers really don't like Dawn. I mean I remember reading Dogasu's review and watching May's second contest battle and I really have to agree with Dogasu on this that May didn't deserve that ribbon but here Dawn really did much better compare to May and Dawn's opening appeal was MUCH better then May's. So it was kinda amazing that juggling beat that coolies appeal.

Still I think that maybe here in Sinnoh Super Contest they look for something much more. Maybe it was what Zoey said: They look at the pokemon, not the attacks. Still maybe that will be more believeable if they didn't use the same judges from Hoenn. Teeheeheehee I mean Zoey's appeal wasn't as fancy as Dawn's but it did feature her pokemon more then Dawn's. So was Nando's.

Still I really have to say that Jessie's really stood out too. I mean not only did it show off her pokemon, or really James's teeheehee, but it also show the bond that she had with them which is amazing since they are not really hers. Teeheehee I guess Team Rocket are really close to each other pokemon.

I think that Dawn's was the best follow by Jessie and Nando's. As of Zoey, it wasn't really that good. Still I guess Zoey's feature her pokemon more then everybody else. Still it was coolies to see Nando in a contest. I would like to see him in battle though too. Still it would have been more sense that Dawn would have moved on to the next round and lost there then losing in the first one.

Yeah, it is. Technically, Nando is using a harp, but this would be the technical term for his type (sorry if I'm off on this, as I'm not an expert on harps).

I noticed that he had *a* harp (its the only reason I like him better than Dawn's other rivals) but I didn't notice the Mew's on them! I'll have to watch it again!

I don't even know when May's second contest battle was...I haven't watched the majority of Advanced Challenge *still*. They shown Advanced Battle loads of times on TV a few months ago and I have Advanced on boxsets but I still haven't caught up with Advanced Challenge and Johto League Champions from when I stopped watching Pokemon...haha

Yeppie. I didn't believe it too when I saw it. I had to rewind my DVR to make sure I saw it right. But it is a Mew!!! Teeheehee He actually has two 'lyre's and both are different. That was so coolies.
 
Nice episode, a good learning experience for Dawn. You can't win em all. It's nice to see a character who has a lot of room to develop.

It might just be me(or possibly the dub) but... Nurse Joy always sounds so sarcastic when she's judges the contest.

Dawn had better be careful about how many poffins she give Pachirisu. Every time it appeared in this episode it was eating one. It's hyper enough as it is XD

I definitely think that Zoey's was the best next to Nando's. It makes sense that Dawn didn't make it, she had really tough opponents.

Anyway I really enjoyed this ep, but there wasn't enough team rocket moments... ._.

I think it was just her voice and don't think too much of it (tone of voice, the dialogue). Most Joys are usually one-dimensional, but, occasionally, we get one of personality. And snarky is never a trait we see, but we can hope. Heh.

That was when the standards for appeals in Contests weren't that high yet. Besides, May did work on her appeals often. Dawn seems to battle much more than she does appeals however. ._.
 
I have to say this episode was actually one of the most surprising turning point for me as a Zoey fan... sure she was mad at Nando at the start when she heard that he was doing both Contests and Gyms, but when she lost against him, that was the only time she came to respect the guy.

But yeah, poor Dawn not getting past by the Appeals again. I think this is something good for D/P, as seeing that they have higher standards when it comes to contests, so I think it's natural for someone like Dawn to lose on the Appeals Round at this time. Hey, who knows, there are a lot of Contest Halls just waiting for the girl... XD
