It must be one of the cheapest moves ever.

I didn't really mind the hundreds of Zubat's that have them because they can't fight anyway but in Platinum, Fantina's Mismagius was really annoying.

I think they're should be side-effects to moves like this. They should take away Confuse Ray and it with swagger for everything that learns it.

At least confuse ray/swagger are in-game. I highly doubt they're used competitively, and even if they are, it's not that often.

But I agree with you; I find the moves to be highly agitating themselves.

Wouldn't really bother me if they were used competitively.

I could never be bothered EV training to competitively battle.

...but confusion is so fun to use. D:

Seriously though, it's easy to deal with by just switching out. I usually keep the pokemon in though because I like to gamble. :D

    whats REALLY annoying is

Sand attack 10 times. then Double Team 10 times. then just to mess with you, Thunder wave. then to really make you angry, confuse ray.

    almost impossible to attack lololol

I know how you feel about that, it happens to me a lot, but thats why I love knocking out the Pokemon as fast as I can, most Pokemon that do sand attack or double team can get easily knocked out

    First of all, 10 times isn't possible, it's 6.

Also, Confuse Ray is annoying, but that's the point. It's like something to force switching in competitive battling. Also, it's a side effect, to make powerful moves have consequences (Outrage) or when healing Pokemon with Poffin ingredients.

Well, really, what offensive moves does Zubat have without Confuse Ray?

    Stack up on berries!
Or just persevere, and keep on fighting.

    I really hate when in the Battle Fronteir when Gengar uses Confuse Ray ;-;

But without it, it would be a little easier to win the game and some people like challenges

Replace Thunder Wave with Mean Look or Block. TWave would be a good choice if the pokemon in question has Arena Trap or Shadow Tag. Otherwise it's too easy to just switch out. :P

Yellow Flute is your friend. To be honest, Confuse Ray is one of my favorite moves. It's annoying and gets the job done. Why take it out of the game to make it easier? That's like saying, "Oh, well Ice Beam KO's most of my team. ZAP! Okay. It's gone now." You have to have some kind of challenge in the game, and personally, I don't find confusion to be that big of a deal. Full Heal, Persim Berry, and Lum Berry are also your friends.

I don't know why everyone hates confusion, it's a legitimate strategy. It's better then being Poisoned, Frozen, Burnt, but worse then paralysis.

It really doesn't concern me. And it has a low chance of getting you anyway.

Well i was wondering if there are different levels of confusion, some which have a higher chance of self injuring, just as there is poison and bad poison. So maybe supersonic has a less chance of hitting but is more severe confusion.

Well on the topic, what about that dang move spore? 100% accuracy sleeping move, just terrible...

Luckily, Spore's Japanese name is very Specific: Mushroom Spore.

So you'll be happy that only the Paras an Shroomish Evolutionary Lines will be able to get it unless they introduce a new Mushroom-based Pokemon.

Yea, but when Smeargle spams spore on Shoddy, it gets old. Anyway, this is a confusion status/confuse ray discussion thread. What do you think of my different levels of confusion theory?

    Spoiler:

Confuse Ray is one of my best attacks! I gave it to my Crobat (Which is a very fast Pokemon), and it helps me take down the strongest ubers that I could have never beaten otherwise.

For example, I fought this guy on Battle Revolution and he had 2 Arceus's. (My Crobat is faster than Arceus!) Confuse Ray'ed 'em both, brought out a type advantaged Pokemon, BAM! Problem solved!
