    Quick Summary

Last year, for my birthday I received a cheat device known as 'Monster Brain' from the company 'Pelican Accessories'. It's a bit like GameShark but there are a lot of differences with it though.

Here's the image of the device front and back

[PokeCommunity.com] Cheat Device - Monster Brain (My Info On it)

    What It Does

It modifies the save file stored within the cartridge of the particular Pokemon game, heres a list of stuff you can edit with the device...

    • Your Name
    • Your Rival's Name
    • Your Current Money
    • Your Total Time Playing
    • Amount Of Badges You Have
    • Your Pokemon Team (Stats, Monster, etc.)
    • Your Items

What Pokemon Games Work With Monster Brain?

    • Pokemon Red
    • Pokemon Blue
    • Pokemon Yellow
    • Pokemon Gold
    • Pokemon Silver

It says it's compatible with Pokemon Crystal though I tried it but it didn't work. It says that the game is invalid. Doesn't matter really, if you have all the classics, you're fine.

    Where Can I Get It?

I know where I got mine, you can find it easily on eBay, it is INCREDIBLY cheap only US$2.00 and it's very common. Though I don't recommend replacing your Action Replay/Gameshark/Xploder device if you already have one, but it can a great addition to your game since the other cheat devices can't do some of the features of a Monster Brain.

Is It Available For An Emulator?

As far as I know, you cannot get Monster Brain for a GB/GBC emulator, anyway it requires you to insert the cartridge in the Monster Brain cartridge, so yeah it is pretty much impossible. Doesn't matter, play the real games on your real Game Boy system!

If you think it's good, please give a comment about it.

If you have a Monster Brain yourself, tell me what you think of it!

No it doesnt. I have never had a Glitch or problem with my save files while working with Monster Brain. It is an amazing tool but for some of the jobs I think it is better to go to good ol Gameshark. Though the Monster Brain does have the benefit of the easy user interface for changing game properties and other poke-things, Gameshark is better for having more control over which codes you want to use and can do some things that monster brain can.

Btw, do any of you know how to use the "Enter Poke" option on the monster brain. I cant figure it out...

The monster brain works perfectly with Crystal. It works on all pokemon games from the GB/GBC era. And this device it really fun to use. And when you learn how pokes work it is even more fun. I like it because you can back up your save files. And you can also recolor the game which is cool.

It looks like a DS device, having a hard time imagining how it would fit in a GBC

Yes it is large, it is even harder to play an SP when you are using that thing. Though playing an Advance is quite easier if you dont mind a weight imbalence, while the things sticks like 5 inches out the top.

i loved this thing back before R/S got released, my friends would be so jealous that i could set item values to 0 and have them never run out.(best thing about the MB) though i never got the Teru-Same to work as i didnt know what it was(i read that it was a space filler/glitch item) and in Crystal i never got the kurt event to work with the GS Ball but after i can find a gameshark code for the event activator i will convert the GS codes to pokes codes and try to activate it.

And my crystal works just fine with it, sorry yours doesnt.
