In my career as a pokemon trainer I have trained many pokemon to perfection. The charizard is a popular area but one I have never explored. But now I think I might want to train one. I think you know what I'm asking. How should I raise a charizard? Anyways thanks for your time.

Well I'm no Charizard expert either, but I can give you a few suggestions on how to raise one, what moveset to give it, etc.
Adamant and Modest natures might proove good choices, cause Charizard can become a good sweeper with it's high sp.attack, attack and speed stats. Maybe a good hold item for him would be a Salac berry. Here's a moveset for it, too:
    Flamethrower
    Aerial Ace/Return
    Steel Wing/Swords Dance
    Earth Quake
Hope this will help you. Well good luck!

    Charizard
    Earthquake
    Flamethrower
    Ariel Ace
    Sunny Day/Dragon Dance.

THis moveset is for the one that like to spend time on powering up before atatcking.

    Charizard
    Flamethrower
    Ariel Ace
    Steel Wing/Brick Break
    Earthquake

THis moveset I perfer. DOn't waste time with powering up just straigt on attack. Break Break is the move I like better. Steel Wing and Brick Break both get rid of those rock types but I like Brick Break because I seeing more normal types like tauros useig Rock Slide on Charizard. So normal types are weak against figthing attacks and so are rock types so lets go with Brick Break.

I wish you luck on your Charizard. Remember he was built for sweaping so sweap away. Just stay away from water types and rock sliders (Unless you have a plan aginst them) He has a high speacil and pyhsical attack power but weak defenses.

    Have fun!

    charizard@salac [modest]
    evs: 252spatt, 252speed, 6hp
    -flamethrower
    -dragon claw
    -hp grass
    -endure

that's the one i use on my team and it works well at least for my team. he's an awesome special sweepert and sweeps almost everything with flamethrower. dragon claw allows him to finish weakened salamence and hp grass gets swamperts and other water types who don't anticipate hp grass on zard. endure helps activate salac and may save your charizard in many cases. flamethrower+blaze@modest is very very dangerous :D you can do fireblast.. but i like flamethrower better cuz of the better accuracy and like i said, at max sp.att it sweeps almost everything that are normal resistant to it.

    Try this set:

    Zard@Lefties/Salac Berry/Liechi Berry
    Nature:Lonely
    Swords Dance/Sub
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide/Focus Punch
    Overheat

I like that set c dog, the only thing that I would change is to put Sub over Endure.

    Hope this helps!
    :D

I suppose on the physical side of things I could go for this.

    Charizard@Salac Berry
    Jolly/Adamant: 252 Att, 252 Spd, 6 Whatever
    Belly Drum
    Earthquake
    Rock Slide
    Aerial Ace

You get the drill. Belly drum for the attack then the salac kicks in to give you speed and your sorted. Unstoppable power. Although it could be risky if the opponent can take over half your health off of you in a single turn. Could be replaced with sword dance if I really wished. I think I like C-dogs set though. It'll just depend if I can find a zard with the right nature and HP grass that doesn't have crap power. I suppose 55 or more for HP grass would be suitable.

PS. How would I get endure on it again?

well, i honestly don't know since that's the set i use on netbattle :S it's legal so it must be obtainable. maybe someone else can help with this...

you can always use sub instead like mullet suggested, but i personally like endure better.

it's a set that works really well on netbattle because apparently ppl usually expect physical zards, so this special zard catches them by surprise. also many ppl are a little slow on catching up to hidden power grass and repeatedly send out water types(swamperts usually). dragon claw works cuz it does damage to pretty much everything.

The best nature for a Charizard is Timid (SPD+/ATK-). I got one from Red that I believe would be Timid, and it has a max speed rating(298), but only 236 ATK.

    Also good would be SPD+/SD-.

    Anyway, for a moveset...
    Charizard@Scope Lens/Soft Sand/D Fang
    F/Thrower
    EQ
    D Claw
    Wing Attack

And ALL Zards need Flamethrower/Fire Blast/Overheat/Blast Burn...
    Belly Drum Zard ineffective.

Well mine is a special zard and it works very well. And not just ingame...

I would not suggust an attack that will damage Char's HP. When it comes to battles you need all the HP you can get and if you waste HP on attacks like Endure and Belly Drum then you may find Charizard on the floor next turn by attacks like rock side, water attacks and other things. Char does not have the best defense. Sword Dance raises the attack and he doesn't use HP.

But this is what I think.

Your moveset is quite powerful, however, a Rain Dance - Thunder combo would faint Zard with your moveset. I prefer giving Earth Quake to Charizard, so he won't have to deal much with Electric types.

I read on serebii.net that you can get endure by the Emerald move tutor.

I tried to place Quake but no one would listen...

The idea in that iswhen you use belly drum it take you to half health whihc ativates your speed raising berry. It will now have like an extra 150 speed and it should also have its attack at 999. Speed in the 400s and 999 attack is quite lethal as long as you can survive a hit tha doesn't take half your health off after belly drumming.

how is endure a waste on charizard? quite on the opposite, it SAVES charizard. i agree belly drum isn't good on charizard cuz if the opponent uses an attack on the same turn it guarantees OHKO. even say you get belly drum up, you can KO maybe ONE poke but then the opponent can just put in a pokemon faster than charizard to finish it..(dugtrio for example) if salac activates at 50% then belly drum can work but since it's at 25% it's probably better to do sub+belly drum to activate salac.. but then you only have 2 more slots for attacks(probably earthquake and rockslide).

    charizard@salac[jolly]
    evs: 252att, 252speed, 6hp
    -rockslide
    -earthquake
    -bellydrum
    -sub
i think this is the standard belly druming charizard. no room for hp flying if you want any chance of belly drumming actually working, imo.

endure is useful on charizard though. how can you say it's a waste of hp? you only use endure when you feel you're gonna get KO'd by a faster pokemon(say a duggy with rockslide is about to KO your charizard). you use endure, not only does your charizard survive the rockslide, but salac gets activated making you faster than duggy. now you can kill duggy with hp grass.

anything slower than charizard, you sweep with the appropriate special attack may it be flamethrower, hp grass, or dragon claw, but for anything faster than charizard, endure comes in real handy. also endure+salac can ruin some of the berry abusers that like to set up flail and reversal. endure ensures charizard lives, activating salac making charizard faster than most berry abusers. i've found it useful for this purpose also.

bottom line is as long as your charizard can avoid status(not that hard as you know which pokes are likely to use which moves) then endure makes for a nice surprise.

um.. if they use raindance they might as well use surf :S rain dancing seadras... and tbolt alone can KO zard, nevermind a raindance thunder combo.

you need to know how to pick your battles. charizard has enough speed and sp.att to sweep many pokes, but to things with decent defense you just have to switch. but keep in mind there's also endure salac combo which can save you against supposedly faster pokemon like jolteon and gengar. salac makes him faster than both and flamethrower OHKO's them.
