CHARACTER SPOTLIGHT #2 | Marlon

Hello everyone! These will be a new series of threads called "character spotlight", where we will take a look at the important characters in the 5th Generation games! You're more than free to share your thoughts and ideas about each character shown in these threads, and reoccurring people who participate in these threads will receive something special:

So, in this character spotlight, we have... Marlon! He's the Water-type gym leader in Humilau City. Basically, he's a very relaxed and carefree man, always seen surfing or swimming instead of being at his gym, but still pretty big hearted when it comes to pokemon, and general good vs. evil.

His Pokémon:Carracosta, Wailord, Jellicent♂, Mantine, Starmie, Alomomola, Quagsire, Cloyster​

[Hikamaru]

Yay my fave Unova Gym Leader and Water-type user!

I love his laid-back personality, it really showcases the calmness of the Water-type, and he tends to use some very calm-looking Water Pokemon himself, like Mantine, Wailord, Quagsire and Jellicent. I also love his hair, it looks like it's sparkling, and the design of his Gym was also very fitting with the peacefulness of the water.

The main downside with him is his tendency to be forgettable, but he was still a nice addition to the B2W2 Gym roster.

 

[Xherdan]

He's pretty forgettable. One thing i loved about him is his Gym. It's so pretty and smart, even though you can sweep his team in seconds. That Jellicent might need two hits, though... Humilau is one of my favorite cities in the Unova region, and this guy is pretty cool. But still, forgettable.

 

[llysender]

He is either on par or better then the shadow triad(dem triplets) in terms of hiding himself. Considering he was able to infiltrate the plasma frigrate aggro everyone and run around until you poped up so that he could lower the gangplank and ditch all responsibility to you.

Even with is chill personality I don't trust him.

 

[Itcheeee]

Probably the easiest Gym Leader for me. Water type Gyms always are, though I feel he was the least popular of Unova's leaders. Even the anime kind of downplayed his presense. Perhaps it's just that Unova was already filled with so many Gym Leaders everyone took a liking to? I like the idea of adding new Gyms in the "second versions". Sure wish they did that the past 4 generations.

Hm, honestly, how do you guys feel he stacks against the other Water type gym leaders?

Misty is sorta tombyish but ruthless, Crasher Wake is pretty Jolly, Wallace/Juan pretty much appreciate the sole beauty of Water pokemon overall. Idk, I feel like all Marlon had for his was his laid back and sorta oblivous personality. Does that really make him a stand alone character to appreciate?

After all the talk I hear that he's forgettable, I'm kinda curious!

I don''t like that he was hesatent to try and stop team plasma, but I guess everyone in the games are oblivious to the evil teams. Overall he was pretty cool, but I chose snivy, so he was super easy.
