In the Safari Zone on my yellow version at like 3 am I was playing a game in the Safari Zone. I was trying to catch Chansey. I tried to throw a ball at the only one I saw. It said I 'missed' the Pokemon! That's never happened in my Yellow before! Please Help me!

It happens. More so in the Safari Zone than anywhere else. The only thing I can tell you is to keep trying.

Eventually a ball will hit. You just have to keep it there long enough to have the chance to throw more than one at it.

That's the problem. If i hit it with a rock or lure it with bait, it runs. If i throw a ball it misses and Chansey runs away. :( That's uh... the only problem that I have. My friend says it worked for him and it NEVER said it missed when HE tries to get a Chansey. That's why I am really confused here.

I understand rocks make them angry but it did help me score a Marowak... ^^" Yeah, luck really will be the only thing to help me here.

You can get Chansey in the Unknown Dungeon I'm pretty sure - maybe only in Yellow?

    Tauros is harder.

My friend told me that the reason why Pokeballs missed Chansey was because it was too fat, and you had to throw rocks at it in order to make it angry so it lost weight. D: So every Chansey I saw in R/B/Y, I threw rocks at. XD; I always got confused as to why Pokeballs missed Dratini, when it wasn't as fat as Chansey. D: But, the rock -> ball method has worked for me on two occasions.

Oh man that's the best theory ever.

Though I always try for a rock and then throwing a ball, but it often takes a long time since the pokemon often runs away after one or two turns. >.> Persistence and patience are your best allies in the Safari Zone. :/

It's all about patience, chance, and luck. That's basically what you have and need to do when it's time to capture a rare Pokémon.

It took me ten tries to get Tauros. After that, I leveled him to level eighty.

Anyways, like I was sayin', you just need to try more. I'm sure you'll get one someday. ^^ If not, then would your friend mind trading his/her Chansey to your game?

The funny thing is, even now when I'm having difficulty catching a Pokemon, I still throw a rock at them so they'll 'lose weight' and go in the ball. XD

But the sign on the pen that Chansey's in outside the Safari Zone sums the whole thing up pretty well:
Catching one is all down to chance.

Or something, I can't remember word for word. XD

I hated trying to catch Chansey in the original Red and Blue. I ended up giving up on it and catching a Scyther instead. ^_^

Yeah I hated chatching chansey... I recomend going to the same place you found chansey before and then just throw ball after ball. In my experience with chansey if it doesn't miss it will catch. I also hated kangaskan.

I remember that once I got lucky and caught it...I don't know how I did though. It was only that one time, too...every other time I kept screwing up and it kept running away XD Dratini...now THAT was a Pokemon I would go and try to catch instead ;)

Well to me, Chansey and Kanghaskan were quite easy to catch cause they always appear in the same area, i got both in under 5-10 safari balls!

i hated trying to catch chansey and kangaskhan in red and blue but in yellow for some reason i could catch kangakhans without fail in the end i had like 10 of them
