theses are fan made games. sadly who knows if we will ever play them
    Pokemon NXT

    Pokemon generations

    Pokemon World.

it sucks that Nintendo owns Pokemon cuz it's only on DS and Wii and they could work with other companies like Sony and Microsoft to give more players to enjoy the game i mean don't companies like money so why can't they get there heads out of there a**es and do it? im wrong?

I find it rather hard to see how a Pokémon MMO would play out, if it's something that would follow the format of ones like World of Warcraft then that would be hard to make. We already have competitive battling on the 3DS games themselves, and I think it may follow the same reason that they can't put the main series games on the home consoles as opposed to going exclusively with the handhelds.

I think the main reason that there hasn't been a Pokemon MMO yet is because of money. The main series games just make too much money for Nintendo, TPCi and Game Freak, to the point where people are buying their consoles just for the Pokemon games (count me guilty for this, since I'd probably have never owned a Nintendo handheld if it weren't for Pokemon). While a Pokemon MMO seems like a no-brainer to us fans, it just doesn't make sense for them, since any future console releases wouldn't sell nearly as well.

If interest in Pokemon ever declines, I could see them using this as their trump card, but considering OR/AS sold 7.5 million copies in the first two weeks, I think we're still a long way from seeing a Pokemon MMO.

Also, seeing how this thread is about discussing the games rather than the franchise as a whole, I'm going to flip this over to Pokemon Gaming Central for you.

    MOVED.

    Pfff. Lol, seriously.
Not counting Sony x Microsoft impossible cooperation, you think Nintendo would do something like that? =D

Hehe, no. Don't ever expect Nintendo to make an MMO Pokémon game, it'll take plenty of time and money for them to do something like that. Even if they were to, I can't see the final results all that pretty, even though Game Freak does care about the quality of this series according to a few reviews I've read. Not only that, but the 3DS is not powerful at all to take on as big as an MMO game. The closest we have is the Player Search System in XY/ORAS, but that's it. I never really understand the appeal of a Pokémon MMO. :/

Also, why would Sony or Microsoft ever work with Nintendo? That's like comparing apples to oranges!

Can they make a Pokémon MMO? Of course. Can they make Pokémon console games? Absolutely. The capability is there for sure, it's the will that's lacking.

Plainly said, Nintendo could make these things if they wanted to.

Either they don't want to, or the project isn't finished yet. I'd guess that - like Brendino said - they want to sell as many handhelds as possible. Which is why there's no officially sanctioned app on iPhone/Android that lets us purchase and play the old GBA and GBC ROMS.

Probably because the way I could only imagine how a pokemon MMO would turn out is already seen from the current-gen games. We got breeding, catching, battling (from wild to trainer battles, and even to wi-fi tournaments), events, etc...all of which are features found it existing titles and to remove the offline possibility of it would surely blow, in my opinion.

If anything, overworld expansion packs/dlc, updates/patch fixes and proper security is all that's left for nintendo to consider for a decent MMO-style console game. I don't think it's far from happening, and I'd definitely pay for those dlc stuff (for as long as they're priced fairly). I kinda hate the subscription-based trend going on certain games, though, so I hate if that'd happen. Pokebank's understandable, but for other features, i'd want every penny permanently worthwhile.

I've played a fan-made MMO last year with the name of with the name of Pokémon Vortex, and it was rather fun, actually!

Its graphics weren't as advanced; they consisted of sprites, like how they were in generation three of games, but none of them were animated, sadly. Though, what I personally found it to be most fun about this game is interaction. Here, we are able to catch and train Pokémon just like in real games, and we also have chance to battle, trade, speak, and so forth with other players that are playing.

From the looks of Vortex, things seemed to have been rather successful. If an official Pokémon MMO were to be made at some point in future, I believe it has potential to be far, far more successful than this, as it's... well, official, haha. A lot of fans have been wanting to see such a thing, including myself, and I'm sure that would lend a hand on how things go with the game.
