[PokeCommunity.com] Brynhildr in the Darkness / Gokukoku no Brynhildr

This is one of the anime that Lilith was streaming yesterday, and I checked out the first episode. I didn't see a thread for it yet, so I thought hey why not.

    Summary:
When he was a child, Murakami was infatuated with a girl he called Kuroneko. She insisted on knowing about aliens and having met them, but no one believed her, even young Murakami was skeptical. One day, she decides to show him the aliens, but an accident occurs and Kuroneko dies while Murakami is left seriously wounded in the hospital.

Years go by and Murakami obsesses on finding proof of the existence of aliens because of a promise he had made with Kuroneko. Then, one day, a new transfer student comes to his class, who not only looks a lot like Kuroneko, but is named Kurohaneko!

And even though she insists on never having met Murakami before, the girl has superhuman strength and seems to even be able to predict the future!

How will Murakami's life change now that he has been saved by this mysterious girl that claims to be a magician?

    Episodes: 13
    Status: Currently Airing
    Aired: Apr 6, 2014 to ?
    Producers: VAP, Arms
Genres: Mystery, Drama, Fantasy, Sci-Fi, Seinen
    MAL: https://myanimelist.net/anime/21431/Gokukoku_no_Brynhildr#ZrG2pFhwrsVcHXqJ.99

Of the first episode, it's really something that this guy has been faced with, between his past and his allusion with this girl who can reportedly predict the future. But so far, I like it.

    Discuss.

I thought it was great from the first episode. Though I find Ryouta kinda bland, Kuroha is a really interesting character so far. I'm still debating on if I should "cheat" and read the manga so I don't have to keep waiting a whole week to know what happens next xD

Until then, I'm totally in the dark about whether or not Kuroha is Kuroneko from Ryouta's childhood (personally I tend to think she is).

Somewhat generic harem-boy-girl-childhood-alongthoselines. I mean look at it, right? Not that I don't like it, actually I find it interested and will keep going until something bothered me.

There's nothing worse than trying to restrain myself from clicking on someone's biography on MAL, and then finding spoilers that are not in spoiler tags! D: I was curiously looking at the series' Wikia pages, and then completely ruined it for myself ;-; Thankfully none of the girls' voices are terribly high-pitched or else I would have dropped the series without a second thought after finding out the truth about everything >>;; Ugh. My sense of curiosity coupled with the suspense is sometimes the worst...Leads me to go snooping around to find out what happens, and then I end up dropping the series because of that reason.

    So, episode 2.

    >goody goody MC
    >secret organization doing research on girls
    >overpowered girls
    >girls being subjected to brutality
    >trying to balance extremely dark stuff with comedy
    >MC meeting the girl (or look alike) as a kid
    >Girl with dark past

sounds awfully like another anime I know which I absolutely despised. At least there's no annoying cousin, though. Will make it watchable if it turns out to be the same.

Yupp, same here xD I always tread lightly when I'm watching an anime adaptation of a manga, or an anime that's already ended. There's usually spoilers on like, the first paragraph of the wiki page.

Also, second episode was good. The plot's moving a little slower than I hoped it would, considering it's only 13 episodes long. But I'm still looking forward to seeing the rest. It's looking like it's going to end up being a really tragic story, though.

I agree. The pacing of the anime seems to be quite slow for the first couple episodes, but hopefully they'll start picking things up. Knowing that the author of this series is the same one for Elfen Lied, I would not be surprised if it ended badly \:

I'm definitely bracing myself for a tear-jerkingly tragic ending, but I was actually really satisfied with the ending to Elfen Lied (besides the setup for a second season that was never followed through). Overall though I like Rin Okamoto as a writer. I hope he does some more stuff in the future :)

The first time I watched Elfen Lied, that cliffhanger-type of ending was aggravating because back then I really wanted a second season, but now that I've grown, I think I already have an answer of my own regardless of whether the author intended for it to be or not :P But with Brynhildr, I can already see a cliffhanger already happening, and wouldn't be surprised >>;; Though I'm really interested in the whole concept, and procedure that they have for those girls, despite it being somewhat painful looking from the events in episode 2 \:

Better cliffhanger ending than Mahou Sensou ending.

    Spoiler:

You can definitely tell that the creator of this series is the same as Elfen Lied XD

    Spoiler:

This series has become more interesting than I originally thought it would be, and I'm already on the edge of my seat for the next episode.

I actually think this anime is pretty interesting, even thought it does have its cliche moments sometimes. I want to know more about Kuroneko and
    Spoiler:

What I think is the really interesting though is the opening! The music is kinda cool.

Also, lol. (not essentially a spoiler just putting in the tags bc large images)

It's a Japanese thing. Getting other people sick is like, taboo.

I was thinking about all the parallelisms between Elfen Lied, and Brynhildr, and to be honest, I'm surprised that majority of the aspects in the latter were found in the former. Not only because of the same author, but the more I analyze everything, Brynhildr appears to be modern replica of Elfen Lied, in my opinion anyway \: Not that it's a bad thing, but from what I've seen from the general population in the PC anime community, not a lot of people were fond of Elfen Lied XD

You're kind of late when it comes to that. Look at my post here :p

Anyway, I've seen episode 3. Things take a darker turn. I don't think that character is dead. Even if she is, I wouldn't really be surprised. The writer seems to like doing shows that involve shock value so yeah. I'm finding this to be a more enjoyable anime than Elfen Lied so maybe I'll end up liking it by the time it ends. For now it is a 'good fun' series for me.

Also, this was brought up on another forum - maybe the third switch will be the key to her survival or something? Idk.
