Best Place To Purchase Cards

I recently started collecting/playing the Pokemon tcg and I wanted to know what the best places are to buy cards. Where can I find the best selection &prices.

Local Large Hobby Shops that hold the official tournaments. They are trustworthy, I mean, even The Pokemon Company trusts them. The more people at the hobby shop for the tournaments, the better. Some of them even have Pokemon booster packs at a lower price. The one I go to sells them for 4 dollars. If you live in Metro Vancouver, you should go to Connection Games and Comics at Metrotown, or Craving for a Game at Central City Mall in Surrey for the best deals. For singles, the best place I can think of is Pasttime Games (which is really close to Craving for a Game), they have a trade - in policy there. For Japanese Cards, there are Japanese hobby stores too ^_^. (Gacha Hobbies, Aberdeen, Richmond, British Columbia)

Generally, if you're just going to buy the prepackaged official merchandise, a big box store like Target or Wal-Mart will be your best bets. You want to avoid dollar stores. Hobby/card/comic book shops are all worth a look, especially ones that actually host a league, sell singles, and have someone who works there who has a deep interest in Pokemon. Outside of this, eBay and Amazon are good places to buy singles and commons in bulk, as are sites like TrollandToad, Collector's Cache, Professor Oak, and PokeOrder, these last 4 being places that sell Booster boxes for sets.
