What the title says, what are some of your favourite and least favourite names amongst the new creatures? For me:

Best name: Squawkabilly. Have mixed thoughts on the design (although I am just starting to like it) but that name is just really catchy sounding.

Worst name: Quaquaval. How. Do. You. Pronounce that. I think I've used various different pronounciations, and never the same one consecutively.

So what are some new mon names you like or don't like?

Worst: Floragato. What kind of fakemon level name is that? "Flower cat". Not bad in a way that's hard to pronounce, just terribly boring. Wiglett and Wugtrio are equally terrible, but I kind of don't include them since they're regional variants (I know they're not, but they totally are).

Best: Lechonk. I still find that name adorable and hilarious. Dachsbun is also up there.

Probably the worst gen in terms of Pokémon names, I struggle finding good ones.

Favorite names: Arboliva, Espathra, Bombirdier, Armarouge, Ceruledge
Least favorites: Toedscool/Toedscruel, Wiglett/Wugtrio, Dudunsparce, all the Ruin Pokémon or whatever tbey're called, and all the 'Iron' paradoxes ("Volcarona" takes the cake, it's an 'Iron Moth' that's neither Bug nor Steel type... 10/10)

I'd give the best name awards to Lechonk, Squawkabilly, Kilowattrel, and Scovillain.

As Corveone mentioned, the future Paradox Pokémon have awful names simply because literally only one of them is a Steel-type (and all of them are "Iron" somehow). I also feel like we're eight generations too late to give Pokémon names like "Rellor" and "Rabsca." Meowscarada and Kingambit are clumsily made names in my opinion, and they don't feel right to me.

Not sure I'd rate it worst yet, but does anyone else keep thinking Dondozo's name is Dodonzo because it just....rolls off the tongue way better?? Like seriously Dondozo looks worse, sounds worse, and is worse to type lol.

For favorite names, many thumbs up to Meowscarada, Espathra (cool-sounding even if I don't particularly like this mon), Squawkabilly, and Greavard/Houndstone!

I always nickname every pokemon I keep for myself so this doesn't effect me quite as much as someone who never does that,
but for those times I find myself looking up info on Gen 9 'mon I'll say I really like the name Bramblin. ( 'cause it was born a Bramblin' mon lol)
Other names I like are Fidough, Dachsbun, Dondozo & Scovillain.
Names I'm not fond of would be Dun dun dun...sparce & any pokemon with 'Iron' in the name that isn't a steel type.

Best: Maushold is pretty funny, and I enjoy how it's a pun on household because there's.... 3 or 4 of them. Arbolivia is creative, and I like that one a lot. And the entire Nacli line having the compound NaCl in it is very clever. Really like Fidough, Dachsbun and Greavard, too. Great, and punny.

Like them, but don't love them: Nymble is pretty cool as a name. I like when is are replaced with ys. Charcadet is a nice name, but not the biggest fan of another Pokemon with -char in the name. Tadbulb is punny, but I don't think it's the best of all the English pun names. Varoom is funny, but maybe just a little silly.

Neutral: Maschiff is... the breed of the dog, but Pokemon-ified. Mabosstiff is just okay. I like the Pokemon, but the name is pretty in the middle for me.

Worst: Lechonk and Smoliv are internet slang names, I hate them. Like, get internet slang names away from Pokemon. Pawmot is just...lazy, it's just Pawmo, but with a t. All of the Paradox Pokemon are terrible. They're not even names.

Not the worst, but I don't like them: Flamigo. They literally just... took the n out of Amigo to make it Flamingo but amigo. Like, I get it, but it feels lazy to me. But definitely not the worst. Wiglett and Wugtrio... they just took the d and made it a W. I don't think these are the worst, just not great.

"Just how do you pronounce that? I feel bad for the kids playing": Gholdengo feels extremely difficult to pronounce, and I've heard multiple pronunciations for it. The four ruin legendries might be difficult to pronounce for some people. Bombirdier. I have heard people say it as "Bomb-bird-dier" and some as "Bomb-bir-de-ay" I don't know which one is the right way to say it.

Someone mentioned Kingambit in this thread, and I'd like to add to that. While I do think it's a decent name to pronounce, it... doesn't exactly fit the Pokémon itself. Kingambit takes a lot of inspiration from Japanese overlords/shogun rather than European-style kings; if there was ever an opportunity for more clever wordplay, it was missed.

(Side note: I often forget that the Pawniard line has a 50% chance to be female, and Kingambit drives that point home moreso than its pre-evolutions both in name and appearance. Nothing wrong with a more masculine female Pokémon, but does anyone else agree that there should have been a more feminine alternative evolution?)

Hi! Are you also a Pokémon xenoverse fan? Do you know any good fanfiction?
