4th Gen Any reason to play Diamond/Pearl before Platinum?

    I'm realizing that I managed to overlook the fourth gen games entirely, and Platinum looks like it has some very cool features. I can't see that there are any major story differences, aside from the two new characters. So my question for all the champions out there is:

    Would I enjoy Platinum more if I had played Diamond or Pearl first?
     
    Honestly, your enjoyment is really up to your perspective. The stories of D/P and Platinum are pretty much the same, with the exception of new characters & areas. Although, Diamond and Pearl are a lot slower than Platinum, so if you're not a fan of slow games due to very slow FPS, I wouldn't bother to play Diamond/Pearl.
     
    I wouldn't bother with playing Diamond/Pearl before Platinum really. They're pretty similar for the most part and 3rd versions are pretty much just straight upgrades of the pair they're based off of. So you're not likely to enjoy one more just because you played the other first.
     
    Diamond and Pearl isthe prototype of the IV Gen. Despite lacking in game speed, it will remain a solid game for me.
     
    Platinum version is superior to Diamond and Pearl when talking about features, although I personally think that Diamond and Pearl are better in terms of level progression. I've always felt that Platinum was more difficult because the leveling curve is slightly tweaked so that the game is a bit harder.
