Any Pokémon you like that have megas/gmax you dislike?

Was looking at Latios and Latias earlier - they're adorable! But the megas really aren't my cup of tea in comparison to the base forms. :( It's a cool concept but not my thing, and I remember being a bit let down by them when they were first shown.

Anyone have Pokémon they like, but don't like their mega or gmax form?

Garchomp, Tyranitar, and the Lati@s are all great on their own, and didn't need Mega Evolutions. In fact, Mega Garchomp is actually worse than regular Garchomp, and Mega Latios and Mega Latias are pretty much the same design-wise.

Salamence is one of my favourite Pokemon of all time, but its Mega doesn't click with me. Partially because its design is worse, and partially because it's too strong for OU.

Blaziken not only got a Mega earlier than Sceptile and Swampert, it's also broken with Speed Boost. I think it would've been more manageable with Flash Fire or Reckless.

Mega Gengar, Mega Kangaskhan, and Mega Lucario have abilities that make them overpowered. Mega Gengar and Mega Lucario can easily be fixed with a different ability (Keen Eye or Prankster for Mega Gengar, Aura Break for Mega Lucario), but in Mega Kangaskhan's case, Parental Bond needs to be nerfed.

And finally, Mega Charizard Y. Charizard needs only one Mega Evolution. Personally, I'd pick Mega Charizard X over this thing.

    starting with gmaxes...

    - flapple/appletun are cute but shouldn't share gmax forms. idk why flapple doesn't just have its own
    - neutral towards duraludon period but i really wanted to comment on how much i cant stand its gmax form tbh

    as far as megas go...

    - i like salamence but its mega evolution design has always made me rather... uncomfortable. @__@
    - i think i like regular garchomp more than megachomp lol

    Megas:
-Kangaskhan. I like this Pokémon but its Mega was so broken that it shouldn't have ever existed (especially with access to Power-Up Punch). I don't like the idea of being basically two Pokémon fighting together either, it makes no sense since as a Pokémon the baby Kangaskhan doesn't exist.

There are other megas I don't like, but that belong to Pokémon I don't particularly like much.

    Gigantamax:
-Pretty much all of them :) I just don't like Gigantamax forms period.

    Megas:
-Salamence. I love salamence, but it's mega is so not for me lol. It just weirds me out
-Alakazam. It's mega looks hilarious, but it really did not need one imo.
-Charizard X/Y: As mentioned above, just pick one GF... no need for it to have two...
-Mewtwo X/Y: Same as charizard, why two? Iirc one was a physcial and the other a special attacker? that doesn't justify it having two though.
-Mega Slowbro... just what even... someone put that thing out of its misery 😂
-Mega Swampert is just weird to me.
-Mega Glalie.... wth... even... is.... @_@

    Gigantamax:
-The really stretched out Meowth is just stupid imo
    -Kingler gives me the creeps.
    -Inteleon & Cinderace are silly/weird.
-Flappletun need a difference between the two imo.
-Urshifu.... were they trying to turn it into a demon or something?

I also agree that mega Glalie isn't a very good design but there is only one Mega/Gigantamax that I can't stand. Gigantamax Venusaur is such a stupid ass design. 😂 I love Venusaur, my favorite Gen 1 starter, and I like its Mega a lot too but it's GMax form is sooooo freaking awful looking.

The mega Latis are such a boring, uninspired design really (why did they make them look so similar), and mega Salamence is kinda weird looking to me

But regardless of whether or not Garchomp needed a mega and if it's better/worse than the original form, it does at least do something better in that its shiny form looks different from the non-shiny form and is this glorious pink thing:

For sure, I really hope GF decides to change up the pallets on the really lame shinies... both Gengar and Garchomp would look awesome if their shinies matched their Mega shinies!

Ngl, I have a soft spot for Mega Chomp, maybe because it's got a strong jaw and it looks a lot more mantis like.

Also agreeing with Lati twins, I still cannot tell which is which apart from the eyes but even then it's hard to see.

I also find Gmax Meowth ridiculous and not in a good way simply because using internet memes in your games just feels like a cop out imo.

I also concur the Flappletun probs should have had separate G max forms.

Gameplay wise, I do not like G Max Toxtricity, the design is amazing don't get me wrong but it feels significantly weaker compared to its base forms. :[

I agree that Mega Glalie isn't a particularly attractive design, but there is just one Mega/Gigantamax that I despise. The Gigantamax Venusaur is a dreadful design. I like Venusaur, my favorite Gen 1 starter, and I adore its Mega as well, but its GMax form is horribly ugly.

I think it's pretty cool in its official art at points!

Agree it's not as attractive from certain angles because of the flower, but that picture is pretty neat. Respect that view though, OG Venusaur is cool and so is his mega.

Gonna mention Heracross here. Original is cool, loved Ash's, but the mega is so derpy looking and I don't like the face or nose. hes just pinocchio tbh :x

Aerodactyl, Sharpedo, and Steelix have megas that have too much going on. The extra additions take away from the artwork. Gyarados, Blastoise, Heracross, and Swampert have megas that are just plain ugly to me. Much worse than their original form. Latias and Latios megas are boring to look at. They feel very uninspired. None of the gmax forms stand out as horribly bad.

    - Mega Ampharos. Dislikes the wool. Shed it in its evolution from sheep to giraffe. Regained it and dragon powers? Implies it to be some kind of draconic sheep-giraffe.

Its Japanese name (Denryu) basically means electric dragon, so I can see why its mega became part dragon type!

Interesting. Can't help but wondering what's the logic behind a wool evolving into a dragon, but I guess it might have been something like this: Ampharos, partly inspired on a pharaoh, and pharaohs are ancient kings so ancient = dragon (kind of like how some dinosaur based Pokémon are also Dragon type or somehow related to it)

Well, still not as shoehorned as the Dragon type in Alolan Exeggutor :)

Yeah, the Megas for the Lati twins are kinda boring from a design perspective.

The one I really don't like it Gardevoir's, though. Idk, the wedding dress-ish thing just looks really awkward to me. I looks a lot more bloated compared to its slicker regular design. I also like the shiny blue more than the black dress thing.

It's funny because for me, I think Mega Venusaur is the weird one. I love the GMax form making the flower so big it basically just becomes a giant sunhat.

Rillaboom. I was all set to see what this hulked-out gorilla would Max into, only for him to mostly stay the same and just manifest giant drums instead.
