    As the title says: There's a new Yu-Gi-Oh series, but..all our beloved characters are still there. With a new attire might I add.

    [PokeCommunity.com] Another Yu-Gi-Oh series? Say it ain't so. What's going on?

    More info(Janime Forum):

    In January (or February) 2006, without any promotion or fanfare, the Irish television station RTE 2 began airing a new series of Yu-Gi-Oh!, entitled Yu-Gi-Oh!: Capsule Monsters. Historically, it has not been unusual for RTE to premiere episodes of the Yu-Gi-Oh! dub before other markets, but this one has proven to be quite a shock . The existence of Capsule Monsters was quietly hinted towards in December 2005 on the retailer website, [Talkin' Sports], but this was not widely known, and the sudden appearance of the series, particularly in such an unlikely place, has proven especially shocking to fans. It is clearly not a dub of an existing Japanese production, otherwise there would have already been knowledge of its existence; it is a 4Kids production, and features the same dub cast as previous seasions, and as such, it is assumed to have been commissioned and producted by 4Kids directly, much like Yu-Gi-Oh! The Movie - Pyramid of Light. Now it is known to be 15 episodes.

    Little is known about Capsule Monsters so far, but it seems to be set before the end of the second Yu-Gi-Oh! anime series (Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters), due to the presence of the Pharoah Atem. It involves Yugi, Joey (Jonouchi), T?a (Anzu), Tristan (Honda), and Yugi's grandfather (Sugoroku) being pulled into a world where Duel Monsters are real. They find monster capsules that they can use to summon monsters. It's similar to the Virtual RPG arc in many respects, and a few have compared it to Pokemon. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the early manga's Capsule Monster game.

    There is no information on Capsule Monsters on the 4Kids website as of February 2nd, 2006. The first place information on Capsule Monsters was found was the Livejournal community Play the d a m n(without spaces) Card by the user "Angryhamster," who caught the new series by accident and managed to tape an early (but numerically unidentified) episode.

    "Capsule Monsters" seems to be set before the end of "Yu-Gi-Oh: Duel Monsters" and involves Yugi, Joey, Tea, Tristan, and Yugi's grandpa being pulled into a world where Duel Monsters are real. They find monster capsules that they can use to summon monsters. It's similar to the Virtual RPG arc in many respects, and a few have compared it to Pokemon. It doesn't seem to have anything to do with the early manga's Capsule Monster game.

    Yugi/Yami, Grandpa, Joey, Tristan and Tea are trapped in some place they accessed via a pyramid where capsule monsters is real. You find capsules, load them into a capsule monster launcher on your arm, and fight opponents with them. Yami and Yugi are still "one person", and Yami still has the puzzle.

    Yu-Gi-Oh!: Capsule Monsters has not yet premiered in the United States or Japan.

    It's hard to believe isn't it, but it's true, I've got ep. 2, 3, and 4 and they're the real deal..except:

    It's a 4KIDS PRODUCTION!

    4kids production, still animated by the same studio though.

    Known about this one for a while, Konami released a small note about a new series airing a while back. The note kept changing from "4th series" to "5th season" so a lot of people doubted the credit of the note. It's also not 12 episodes, it'll run for 15 episodes. It's just weird for this to air in Ireland of all places first.

    Thanks for the new info Kazuhito-san. It really is weird for it to air on Ireland.

    If the info helps, Capsule Monsters is most likely based off of one or both of two things:
    A. Capsule Monster Colliseum, a yugioh video game released a while ago that never really caught on like the somewhat similiar (board game-esque) dungeon dice monsters.
    B. In the Yugioh Manga, in the season that did not appear as an anime in america, Capsule Monsters is a popular game in one of the "episodes". Mokuba is the king of that game, and Yugi beats him (of course). If I recall correctly, this is actually what started the chain of events that led to Yugi and Kaiba's first battle.

    Considering how...boring GX is getting, I am kinda happy they are doing this as...A) not ready for Yu-Gi-Oh to end, and B) considering how much I loved the virtual RPG three parter and wished that was longer, this is a double surprise.

    I hope it's a spin off as the Yu-Gi-Oh movie proved, they are kinda good and be quirky and funny and have a good atmosphere but they are not writers. So that's the only demerit I give.

    I want to be in Ireland now. Hee.

    Looks like they took the hint abbout GX, which is completely awful. This should be a good series if they do it properly.

    Well...this is a bit of a surprise o.O

    I gotta be honest, I'm pretty excited about this. I missed the old characters. I don't mind GX, but it's just not the same as the original. *Wishes she was in Ireland* I wanna see this so bad!! And I also hope 4kids doesn't screw this up.

    Nice find, Katsu-san!

    I can't say I'm too excited about the overall concept, as even though the Duel Monsters aspect of the series has been one big marketing tool it was always very entertaining and suspenseful, but should it ever premiere here I'll definitely give it a chance. I'd rather have the original cast paired with a game that only faintly resembles Duel Monsters than the new, flat cast on GX that still battles in the traditional style...it's all about keeping the core of the show sound; if they're successful in that they can alter anything that they want around them and still produce quality.

    I still suspect that it may have something to do with Monster Capsule Chess because of the grid visible on the image of the title logo...eh.

    Yeah, it's mainly been made to hype the Capmon game that's coming out later this month.

    Umm, looks interesting. It will be short though, but hey, I might be good. ANYTHING, is better than GX...

    ^ Ish okay. Everyone's entitled to their opinions ^^

    PS. If this post is too large, just tell me and I'll edit a few things ^^;

    At any rate...I have bad news...it appears that it has been pulled off the air in Ireland. I was checking another forum, and here's some of the stuff I found:

    There will be no more YGO Capsule Monsters.

    When I turned on my AVI recorder a little while ago to trim and upload Friday's episode, I found it was, instead of YGO:CM, an episode of YGO GX. Apparently, RTE have twigged to their mistake, and they will no longer be running YGO:CM.

    I will, of course, record the eps on Monday and Tuesday just to be sure, but it looks like we've got all the CM we're getting.

    I'm very sorry about this, but obviously there's nothing I can do about it. I would have found out sooner, but I've had a crazy few days with RL (college, exams, back problems, doctor's appointments, chiropractors, etc.) and I didn't even get checking what was on the recorder until about twenty minutes ago.

    And so, the saga of the lost YGO eps comes to a close. I will keep an eye on the channel, and if they start airing eps of CM again, I will do my best to get them to you. Thanks to everyone who supported the situation by uploading files and trying to get the eps to the fans-- you're all wonderful. I wish this could have lasted longer and that we'd got to see more than three episodes, but I guess RTE realized the mistake they'd made. Thanks to everyone for trying to help me find out info etc, and for generally being just so awesome. 'Twas fun while it lasted.

    It was GX today.They have definitely taken it off the air.

    It's because of the uproar in the fandom IMO it was taken off. Just has to be why

    Oh, and a little note to those thinking about contacting 4Kids and asking them to continue it:
    I don't think that it would be a good idea to contact 4Kids asking them to continue showing Capsule Monsters on on RTE. They already know that word leaked out about the series, and I'm 100 percent sure that they also know that episodes 3 and 4 are currently circulating the net. It isn't in their best interest to continue showing the series if people are going to be distributing copies of it before it even hits the US or Japanese market. And we don't want them doing something drastic, like finding Janime and trying to shut the site down. I say we all just be grateful that we got an amazing sneak preview and just wait for the series to debut in the Fall, or whenever. ^_^ Besides, I think 4Kids' mission was to generate excitement and get some fan reaction about this new series so that people will show interest in it when it arrives. If so, they've achieved their goal very well I'd say.

    So...it looks like it's been officialy plugged. However, most people are hoping that it will air again sometime later. I know I'm hoping for it, although chances of that happening are slim to none ><;;;

    Not plugged, the episodes are going to be coming to DVD first, then they'll be getting the rest aired on TV.
