Alternative to Eevee?

Eevee is a cat-based Pokémon introduced in generation one, which has around eight to ten evolution in total, with each having its own way of evolving (well, at least for most part). From looks of things, majority of these Eeveelution are special-based, including Espeon, Vaporeon, Sylveon, and more.

If they were to introduce a dog-inspired counterpart to this particular Pokémon with just as much evolution and whatnot, how would we take it? What would we imagine this Pokémon to be known as, and which types would we like its evolution to cover? How would we expect some of its evolution methods to turn out, aside from using stones?

I personally feel it'd be pretty interesting. There are many type-groups out there Eevee does not seem to be taking care of at the moment--including dragon, bug, rock, and ground--and if this Pokémon were to fill in those areas, it would remove the void, in a way.

I think it would be interesting, and wouldn't be entirely opposed to it, although I don't think it would go over well. The majority of the fanbase would probably hate it for it being an "Eevee rip-off" and really, what's the point when we already have Eevee? I think it would be better to just make a couple more eeveelutions every gen until we finally have every typing. Might be a bit ridiculous, but I would love that.

Time to open this can of worms:

Eevee doesn't really look entirely like a cat. It has features of cats, dogs, and foxes. But it isn't any of those in particular. It's a generic mammal feline canine mix and is its own creature. A dog counterpart wouldn't really be necessary for Eevee due to this. Because it already has some features of a dog. That's why it appeals to so many people. People can interpret it as either one.

Eevee's gimmick belongs to Eevee alone. Though I wouldn't mind seeing more canine-based Pokemon because I love canines, it wouldn't make much sense to do so. And also, because the distinction between Physical and Special types doesn't exist anymore, it's not necessary to have a "Physical" counterpart as well. (There's also the fact that the Dark-type is much more of a Physical type than Ghost.) It would make more sense to just give Eevee "Physical"-type evolutions. I'm of the opinion that they will eventually introduce an Eeveelution for every type.

Eevee is Eevee, I'm not gonna weigh in on the Catdog battle :P

I think a Flying-type counterpart would actually be pretty good idea. People want a everything Flying-type Eevee, but I think using the Flying-type is a good "vanilla" that can be paired off easily.

A bolder move? Dragon. There are dragons of all kinds, why not make an Eevee clone out of that?

I think I wrote a post about this a while ago I'm all for another pokemon having an evolutionary method similar to Eevee if always said a humanoid fighting type( like sawk) would be good for this kind of evolution

I woul actually like something different. For me Eevee is getting to be an old trick.
A dog part would be cool. Especially if it would cover the types eevee does not cover. Maybe fire/grass/water/electric too, but more focusing on types like fighting, steel, rock/ dragon and flying.

And to those people calling it a rip-off, go look at the internet, at dA and look for eeveelutions. I just think a new line would work out, and it would bring some variation into the game itself.

A new flying, dragon, or poison type eevee rip off would be nice. Poison type would be easiest to explain reasoning behind it changing because there just has to be a reason for everything. It would be mostly a physical attacker, holding barely any special attack, probably pretty low speed and higher defense regardless of it's subtype. It would be best to cover all of the types that haven't already been covered. Maybe it could evolve based on what terrain you level it most on. Maybe it could be a signature pokemon of the next gens evil team and have an evolution that's based on it having a low happiness rather than a high one.

The Eeveelutions are very special-power oriented. Dark, psychic, elemental powers... We should have a canine style pokemon representing the more physical types! Rock, fighting, ground, flying, bug, steel, dragon... Ghost and poison are questionable there. Maybe it could look like a mix of Growlithe and Riolu and its evolutions would be bipedal rather than on all four like the eeveelutions.
