7-Star Sceptile Tera Raid Solo Strategies

Announced the next 7-star Tera Raid: Sceptile with Tera: Dragon. Kicks off on June 28 at 0:00 UTC. What kind of solo strategies do you have in mind?

First, a look at Sceptile's stats:

Hitpoints: 70
Attack: 85
Defense: 65
Special Attack: 105
Special Defense: 85
Speed: 120

Has a higher Special Attack stat than Attack stat, but famously terrible special coverage. Should have the Unburden ability, which likely means nothing in this raid.

Guesses a mixed set for Sceptile. Presents more of a challenge than pure physical. Could wind up being pure physical, however. Lacks enough moves to be pure special.

Leans towards a moveset like this:
  • Leaf Blade or Energy Ball
  • Dragon Claw or Dragon Pulse (the opposite damage type of the Grass move)
  • Brick Break or Low Kick (for Ice types)
  • One of Earthquake, Rock Slide, Throat Chop, Thunder Punch, or Acrobatics. Maybe even something unusual like Screech (especially for a pure physical moveset).

For out-of-turn moves: Dragon Dance. Fits better, thematically, than Swords Dance. Also one Leaf Storm (followed by an immediate debuff clear).
_______

One idea: Galarian Weezing, preferably with Levitate. Resists Grass and nullifies Dragon. Has good Defense. Knows Acid Spray, Curse, Taunt, and Clear Smog, if needed.

May be able to get something like Comfey, Sylveon, Scream Tail, or Whimsicott rolling too. Worries about Earthquake for someone like Tinkaton (and legendaries like Zacian Crowned and Fezindipiti). Should be more than fine if it does not copy so many other Tera Raid bosses.

Calculated a meme choice: Azelf with Skill Swap and Explosion. Nabs Sylveon's Pixilate. Boom. Only hits for 352.3 - 414.9% of Sceptile's normal hitpoints. Comes nowhere close against its likely x35 raid hitpoints. Cannot boost its physical damage with anything quickly either.

Zacian will be good in this raid especially if Sceptile wont have Earthquake.

Zacian
Nature: Adamant
EV's: 252 HP, 252 Atk, 4 Def
Ability: Intrepid Sword
Tera: Fairy
Item: Rusty Sword
- Play Rough
- Iron Defense
- Howl
- Swords Dance

Thinking a possible mixed attacker again, with -Speed nature since Sceptile is so fast anyways, and maybe Sunny Day. Breaking Swipe, Vaccuum Wave, Solar Blade/Beam... if no weather, maybe Frenzy Plant. Possible Double Team or a bunch of stat resets with Leaf Storm.

If Sceptile is just a special attacker, wondering if Florges would work. Calm Mind, Skill Swap, Moonblast, Draining Kiss. Thinking of a cheeky build to steal Unburden and then activate a held item. Will be tricky if too many player resets during the raid.

Florges
Nature: Calm
Ability: Flower Veil
Tera: Fairy
Item: Throat Spray
- Calm Mind
- Skill Swap
- Alluring Voice
- Draining Kiss

Unleashed 7-star Sceptile. Wound up slightly different than expected.

Nature: Hasty (+Speed / -Defense)
Ability: Unburden
Moves: Leaf Blade, Breaking Swipe, Thunder Punch, and Dragon Dance

Out-of-turn moves: Leaf Storm (opening move), Earthquake (near the end), and Breaking Swipe (apparently)
Debuff clears: 2 (Remembers two. Says only one on Serebii. Happened maybe at half health and ~75% time. Definitely not exact amounts.)
Buff clears: 1 (Towards the start, maybe...5 turns in?)
Tera Orb steal: 1 (Around the buff clear timing.)

Went in blind with Sylveon. Big nope.

Switched to Malamar. Skill Swapped Contrary onto Sceptile and waited to faint to regain Contrary. Thankfully took the turn 1 Leaf Storm. Took a while as-is. Accepted the occasional free Attack boost from Breaking Swipe while buffing up with Superpower. Spammed Psycho Cuts (as a Tera: Psychic Pokemon) from there on out. Won with enough time for 2-3 more attacks on the first try with Malamar, no resets.

May be a decent raid for Avalugg with a Body Press build. Is not affected by the Breaking Swipe drops. Could give a Tera: Ice with Curse build a chance too. Tossed out random Breaking Swipes on Malamar, though, so maybe not.

Turned out to be mixed attacking (well sort of), so Florges was a dud. Was also looking at Contrary, but ended up going the Unaware route instead. Hatched a new Fuecoco and evolved it into Skeledirge and changed its tera type to Fairy. Max Defense with vitamins and split the rest between HP and SAtk.

Had Arboliva and Arcanine NPCs, but I think they hurt me more than helped again. Sceptile was always at 5 Attack buffs even with taking out Arcanine constantly. Grassy Terrain from Arboliva only strengthened the Leaf Blade attacks. Did Will-O-Wisp on T1 and then Torch Song until player reset. Did Protect since Sceptile was at +5 already and then went back to Torch Song until +6 and then terastalized Fairy and Tera Blast for the rest of the raid.

Skeledirge
Nature: Modest
Ability: Unaware
Tera: Fairy
Item: Shell Bell
- Torch Song
- Tera Blast
- Will-O-Wisp
- Protect

Zacian didn't worked so switched to Magearna. It was very easy raid with this build.

Ability: Soul-Heart
Tera: Stellar
Item: Metronome
EV's: 4 HP, 252 Atk, 252 Def

Use Iron Defense on turn 1 and after Sceptile clears your buffs. Otherwise use Draining Kiss.
